Falcons Sleeper Of The Week: Jacquizz Rodgers
For your fantasy league championships, you might need a little advice on who to play. We've got a sleeper for you.
Obviously, you'll want guys like Matt Ryan and Roddy White in your lineup this weekend. The Saints have a woeful pass defense, after all, and exploiting it is key.
I'm here to champion Jacquizz Rodgers, though.
If ever a game called for Jacquizz, it was the Saints game. Michael Turner's groin is bothering him, the Saints have a pretty decent run defense and the offensive line's run blocking has been inconsistent at best all season. With Jason Snelling battling an illness, that leaves Rodgers as the lone truly healthy back on the roster. I'm not counting Antone Smith.
Given that the Falcons will want to be creative to beat down the Saints' defense, Rodgers should be due a big game. Passes out of the backfield, runs to the outside and the occasional screen are all effective against the Saints and should involve Rodgers. Hell, you can line him up outside as a receiver and let him use his superior agility to gain separation from the dregs of the Saints' secondary.
Rodgers is also extremely motivated to prove himself, and Mike Smith says he envisions Jacquizz as a potential three-down back in the NFL. This is a great chance to test that theory out. I'll go on record predicting 80 combined yards and a touchdown for Quizz.
Who's your choice for a sleeper?

Bengals have a tough pass D with Leon Hall
Fitz is always a good bet, but JJ has the better matchup. I agonized over this one, but I’d probably still go with Fitz.

Proven commodity vs. potential
I love JJ to death, but I’m not picking him in a divisional grudge match, even if Fitz is facing the Bengals improved defense. Both teams are on the road, but Saints vs Falcons seems likely to be a lot of Matt looking for TG and Roddy in the face of repeated blitzes.
Soooo LF?jk
i only ask because LF’s lack of producing last week would have defin. made me lose if it wasnt for me picking up falcons Def at the last min(which was an awsome move btw)

So happy I don't have to worry about FF anymore since I'm my league's champ and all :)
Only have to worry about our Falcons now. Good luck to the rest of ya!

Really if Rodger is our only back, um gonna need a real drink when i watch this game....
He’a has shown flashs off greatness but i dont know how good he can be in this leauge with a sole responsible role like that. He’s quick but how much confidence do we really have in him at this point. i think this maybe a result of us being to comfortable w/ MT carrying us this far, We’re spoil!!

warrick dunn
was a shrimp, too, but he played quite well.
yeah but he paired well w/ our other bruising back DUCKET(is this the coorect spelling?)
In this case thier saying if turners out, he should be a 3 down back. If i understood correctly!

i hope you're right.
and your sleeper may make JR the sleeper, too. :)
If by that ...
you meant that MM will be sleeping in the booth and MR will just run the offense from the field? Then I agree with you…hahaha

No, that's...
pretty much my choice as well…Totally Agree!!

based on what you said...
Passes out of the backfield, runs to the outside and the occasional screen are all effective against the Saints
That means we will try one of those once and when it does not work we will abandon it because if it did not work once, it will never work (according to a certain OC philosophy). I am sure a certain OC keeps calling for #34 in a pass play…
Dont cloud the issue with facts!
my sleeper is dominque franks
I wanna see us have a legit nickel back badly, and he has been playing pretty well. On a side note I want kerry Meir to get more touches than any game this year. No saints cb would respect him and he could be huge for us on important 3rd downs at least!

Based on this article I just claimed Quizz and inserted him into the flex position
My fantasy team has been rvaged by injuries and I’m playing in the loser bracket so what the hell?

A Suggestion Quickly
So I was over on some of these great SB Newsletter Sites and i came across the Saints one. I believe it was CanalStreetChronicles? Anyways, they have a thread for predictions of the game and they are pretty mixed. Since I’m new here will someone tell me if we have a thread like this, and if so when is it coming up. If not, I would like to see some of us Dirty Birds go over to the sight and post our predictions and maybe have some friendly (Or Maybe Un-Friendly like some of you are hoping) debates. Oh, and on the note of the Quizzly Bear, I’ve been waiting for him to get some more touches. At the end of the JAX game he broke that one guys ankles. I would also like to see him become a replacement for Jerious Noorwood, and I’ll be glad to see some Wildcat from him. Anyway, if you could answer my question or take my request I would be over joyed. Thanks.
If you mean underutilized then
he’s already replaced Jerious Norwood. When Harry Douglas leaves then he’ll have it all to himself.

HD
Killed on that same route in the last 2min. If we kept going to him we might never have had a 4th down to get stuffed on. Hopefully HD bottled some of that bad ass and will have it ready this week.
I also think JR has a BIG game coming soon, a la Snelling in 09. He’s going to erase any doubt about being worthy of more touches, and then he won’t get him(at least if MM sticks around:/)

Do yall think HD is gone after this year?
I’ve heard a lot of talk about it so what does everyone think?

Here is where MS confuses me from time to time
MS envisions Quizz being a three down back in the NFL. Well, when? This season? Next season? After MM has been whisked away by some team looking to save our offense? After MS leaves? After MT’s leg falls off from being over used?
Sometimes I have to wonder if MS actually believes some of the things he says.
How dare you question the process!
by FLA_Falcon on Dec 23, 2011 8:13 PM EST via mobile up reply actions 1 recs
Oh boo hoo! I'm so sick of hearing Quizz will only get ONE carry
He’ll get TWO carries but the second will be called back due to some stupid penalty and he will quickly vanish off the field because he’s useless in long yardage situations. Need more guys on the field that can only run in a straight line for 5 yards dammit! Thank you but that voodoo rock and roll ankle breaking thingy you do is not needed here! I say good day!
