Falcons-Texans Series History

Stay connected for news and updates

It's that time of week again to preview one of the Falcons 2011 opponents. This week, the Texans. The series is tied 1-1, going back to 2003, when the Texans won the first encounter in Houston, 17-13. This game was the return of Michael Vick from his leg injury in the second half of the game to try to jump start a sputtering offense, which couldn't do diddly, and had a chance to win late. Don't know why Dan Reeves just didn't start Vick. The season was a lost cause anyway. The second encounter was 2007, the return of Matt Schuwab to the ATL, and the Falcons getting their first win, 26-16. I beleive it was a late interception of a Schuwab pass late that sealed it. Don't remember much from that game, or the other one because probably both teams were just plain shitty. As for this game coming up on Sunday, I do see the birds taking full advantage of the Texans QB situation with T.J. Yates. Hopefully, the D will apply constant pressure throughout the game so he can make mistakes, to their advantage. The Texans have the number one overall D in the league, which will present a challenge for the Falcons, but as long as Matty Ice is in a groove, getting Turner going, and running the hurry up the WHOLE GAME, they should be fine. Hopefully the oc's playcalling won't be so vanilla, but I'm not holding my breath. The Texans have weapons in Andre Johnson, Arian Foster, and a few others that will be a threat, so the Falcons will need to be on guard, and be on guard for the Texans D as well, this game is going to be tough. I see the Falcons in a close one, 24-20, I give them the edge because of the QB advantage, which Matt Ryan should exploit. Next week, I'll be back for Panthers 2.
