Saturday Six Pack: Wild Card Chase Edition 11/26/11
Good day, Falcoholc. Hope everybody's Thanksgiving was fun and filling. And non-violent. Speaking of violent, Ndamukong Suh is a trip, isn't he? I saw his little "action" and was sickened. That dude has issues. It's a real shame because he is a phenomenal talent, but he has the self control of a -- you guessed it -- a typical college student. I wouldn't necessarily label him as a "dirty" player in that he doesn't use unfair tactics/techniques to gain an advantage (that's what I consider a dirty player to be. In my book, Suh would be words that can't be put on the front page), but I will say he has no self-control and is only harming his reputation at this point. That's for another time. I'm here to deliver news.
AJC: Couple quick reads from the AJC for ya this fine day. First, UGA and the Falcons ride the Energy Bus. Both UGA Coach Mark Richt and Falcons Coach Mike Smith credit the Energy Bus as a key ingredient to maintaining a positive attitude in the locker room? Sound strange? Check it out! Next, a quick story about former QB Coach Bill Musgrave facing off against good old Matty Ice. Nice little story attached to that one.
SBN Atlanta: Our good friend Alexander Shirkey writes about the Falcons playoff hopes, combined with their easy schedule. Good stuff, you should definitely check it out.
Blogging Dirty: I actually wasn't sure if this blog was even going or not anymore, but I happened to come across this article by Jamie Kelly which raises some questions about the Falcons pass rush. I'll leave it at that.
Pioneer Press: I believe this is a local paper out in Minnesota somewhere, but this article basically says "no way, no how" to Adrian Peterson playing on Sunday. That's good for us, because that dude can still run wild with the best of them.
Kansas City Star: Scott Garbarini writes a lengthy preview of the game on Sunday. It's long, but it's a good read. It's a pretty detailed description of the game that breaks down a lot of stuff but is worth checking out!
Random Funny: Here's an interesting sign for you. I found it to be pretty amusing!

Since you brought it up
Suh is a dirty player. His play against GB is a new low for his on the field behavior. Repeatedly bouncing the OL head off the turf and then stomping him is the definition of dirty. Based on your definition I guess it would be okay for a team to chop blocked him and tear his knee up. Nothing dirty about that right? Chop blocking is only a personal foul after all.
and its a block
Meaning it is in the action of play, between the whistles. While his was after the play and against a man on the turf. And wasn’t he the one to talk about us being dirty? If I recall right, he has 9 personal fouls. That is about 1 every 3 games he plays. Pretty sad.
Dont cloud the issue with facts!
Your comments really amuse me.
Lay off the pokes at my intellect already, bud. I’ll gladly debate with you, but I’m not going to play your game.
Also, my definition “an unfair tactic to gain an advantage” would not be okay, because a chop block is a penalty (deemed unfair by the rules) and would cause an advantage (no Suh).
So, if you can find where I said “Being a dirty player based on my definition is okay” then you’re welcome to call me out on it.

Take it any way you want
My intention was not to poke fun at your intellect, but again, take it as you will.
Your definition of dirty has nothing to do with the ethics of play or being a professional. And to use your own words, “a chop block is a penalty”, didn’t Suh have a penalty called on him for that play? I guess intentionally trying to hurt a player after the whistle is not dirty, huh Caleb? Pounding a players head into the turf does not qualify as dirty? Clearly after the play is over, the person on the bottom is not trying to defend himself and then someone stand up and stomps then with metal cleats? Or is that an indicator of good, hard nosed football? It’s a shame that your definition only considers “an unfair advantage” and not an out right attempt to hurt another player after the play is over.
A boy named Suh....
Look I get it, your not supposed to stomp people. What I don’t get is the uber-pussification of the game of football. I was playing RG in pop warner and this mean ass DT was playing me dirty the whole game, kept grabbing my facemask and yanking me out of the way by my head, it must have happened 20 times and no flags by the refs. I went to the coach and asked him what to do he said next time he reaches up to grab your mask punch him in the sternum. I did that. I didn’t get flagged and I stood over the punk after the play and laughed. He deserved it.
My point? Well we don’t know what kind of unfair advantage that OL was trying to get by holding, you know he was holding, or what kind of shit he’d been talking. I’m apt to believe he was retaliating by the way he was losing his cool. I have kids I know that look. Now his fault is this: getting caught up in the moment and getting caught. Everyone plays a little bit dirty but the pros know how to maintain composure and get away with it descretely. Besides that he’s probably been called Suh his whole life, can you imagine being a boy called Suh your whole life.

He's obviously a bit sophomoric.
Early to mid twenty year olds tend to be immature in dealings with others. Is he a douche? Damn skippy but the only side of the picture that we have seen is what has been shown and talked about by the media. I bet it’s a little less black and white than they are painting it.

Immature or not
Its one thing to get pissed and talk smack when a guy blocks you or beats you in coverage. but what Suh did was ugly, sick, and has no place in the game. I too think fooball has become more girly but stomping a guy’s arm with metal cleats is unacceptable and cannot be justified. That crap is just plain weak and I’d be very disappointed if he doesn’t get at least a 3 game suspension.
While I don't like the "uber-pussification" of the NFL
people should remember that, at no time in the last 50 years was what Suh did legal. If Art Donovan did that, he’d get a penalty and maybe a suspension. Bill Romanowski would have gotten flagged. Suh getting flagged is not an example of the NFL’s drift towards flag football, it’s a player getting caught doing something that’s always been against the rules.
Nice line up
Thanks for the articles. The sign was hilarious. Here is the deal in pussification; Team has quarterback or runner that is being paid forty million bucks.Defensive tackle rips helmet off causing injury.Team loses three million.NFL chastises defensive tackle.DT does it again.NFL chastises DT.DT does it again then two things will happen NFL gets rid of dt or lineman takes shot at knee and player no good anymore.Ref’s concentrate on dt and make life miserable.Sure he was awsome but now he is gone.Teams will not stand for money being thrown down the drain. He will learn how to play. They could possibly miss the playoffs because of his actions.

No I get it but all I'm saying is:
He’s not an evil person, he just lacks self control.

My understanding
is Suh stated he wasn’t beating the guy’s head into the turf and he didn’t try to stomp him. He said this after it was aired to the world. Suh is either too stupid to breathe without assistance or he has mental problems. Either way the league has to put a stop to his behavior immediately or risk sending a message that it’s ok.
