Ok Falcons fans. I know, I know. It's WAY too early to bring up "Offseason". However, if you're like me, you feel that eventhough you hold out hope for a great ending to the season THIS season, you're looking forward to the offseason (because you can just FEEL it in your hearts that the Falcons are SO much better than their record, but our Coordinators are holding us back) and wondering what, if anything, the Falcons (more importantly Arthur Blank) will do with the current Offensive and Defensive Coordinators this coming offseason. Get at me after the jump.
There are a handful of fans that believe Mike Mularkey is a good OC and the Brian VanGorder is a good DC. On the other hand, there are quite a few more than a handful of fans who would rather do nothing more than to see our current coordinators (more in particular, our OC Mike Mularkey) taken out back and shot (not literally, ofcourse) than to allow them to call another play for the Falcons. I for one am one of those fans who agrees with the latter, with regard for human life, I might add. I'm sure that most Falcons fans believe that MM is way too conservative and predicatable in his play-calling. We've all complained countless times about "Turner, up the gut"! So much so, that the term alone could almost literally be turned into a verb like when you "Google" someone. "Hey, did you go around the house to get to the patio"? "Nope, I 'Turner up the gutted' the house and came out the back door". Corny example, but you catch my drift.
So I pose these questions. Do we keep MM and if so, why? Do we cut MM loose and if so, who would YOU like to see as the Atlanta Falcons new (and hopefully improved/more "explosive" and non-predictable) Offensive Coordinator? I pose the same questions about our DC, Brian VanGorder. Who do YOU think can come in hear and make the Falcons defense like say a Steelers type defense. A CONSISTANT one. One thing about BVG though. I AM liking what he's done with improving our run defense as of late. Still however, our "vanilla" and our "Skin-so-SOFT" zone coverage that we play in the secondary leaves a LOT to be desired; as well as a lot of space for other teams receivers. I want to see some OC and DC candidates names and why you think they could help the Falcons.
