So here is my solution. First you need to find out if Ryan is a championship caliber QB. Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson have 1 so my guess is yes. The only problem with that is they both had great defenses to back them up. I think Ryan needs that. Which would mean you would need to bring in a dominant DC to run the D. Mike Smith and BVG are not those guys. If we could get Spags or a Fewell to run the D. Smith could probably keep his job.
The other belief is that Ryan can win a ring with a dominant offense. I do not believe this. If this is the case you would have to bring in a dominant OC to run this offense. MM is not that guy. We could try to get a Clements or Sumlin to run the offense.
Maybe Matt Ryan isn't a championship caliber QB at all. Maybe we should be looking for his replacement. I think( and I know this sounds crazy) we should trade our 2nd rd pick to KC for Ricky Stanzi. I think Stanzi is in the same mold of a Tom Brady. I think if he sits behind Ryan a couple years he can become one of the top QB's in the league. I also believe if Smith doesn't want to part ways with MM and BVG we should be looking for his replacement as well.
Maybe a Mangini or even dare I say it a Rob Ryan. Say what you want about the guy but he would have the Falcons talked about nationally on a daily basis and he is a defensive guru. We also could go offense with a Bill O'Brien or even a Chuds from Carolina for the HC job. Either way this might be needed because even though this team is talented. It might need a change at the two most important positions to get over the top.
