Is Mike Smith the problem? Pt. 1

I know I'm some what of a "new" falcon fan(since '98) but I am passionate about the team. I am not on the other hand a Atlanta sports fan. So I don't know the pain some of you guys suffer. I root for teams like Chicago Bulls, Blackhawks, Stl Cardinals and so on. Not a homer fan by any means but 1 thing has been urking me. Whats wrong with the Falcons?

The Falcons seemed to be cubsed or brownsed in that they are cursed. The only difference is at least those teams have rings(maybe made out of copper) but they have rings. The Falcons seem to always make the wrong choices when it comes to personnel or coaching or even hot dog prices. It just seems to be fate that they mess up some where in a season.

Now to this regime. The "Greatest Regime in Atlanta Falcons History" as some of you see it. Even though they have no playoff wins. Alot of Falcon fans nowadays think we are on the cusp of winning our 1st Super Bowl championship. I am not one of those people. This team is far from garbage but they also aren't elite by any means. The OC is vanilla and plain. The DC is also plain and easily outsmarted most of the time. The HC all be it calm and cool under pressure is well not dynamic enough to win a championship(with this staff). The franchise QB is smart, determined, and has alot of moxie. Then again he also is clumsy, inaccurate, and IMO sometimes dumbfounded.

Then there is the GM(who I think is good) but drafts too "safe" for my taste. He has a 1st round bust in Baker and maybe one in Jerry as well. Or could it be bigger than all of that. Maybe its Mr. Blank. Who sometimes goes with his heart over his head and becomes too loyal to a player(Vick) or a coach. I fear Smith has reached his peak last season with "THIS" team and "STAFF" and since he has built some faith Blank won't fire him even if the Falcons don't get to a Super Bowl or NFC championship game in the next 2 years.

Continue to part 2 fro my solution.
