Since I got nothing going on this week besides regular stuff, and no game, I figured that this would be a good time to finally talk about my Got Falcons book.
The book is basically a large three ring binder with around 300 pages of Falcons related stuff, such as, Regular season series, postseason series, preseason series for starters, which take up the bulk of the book. The other stuff includes: A city index which has every place the Falcons have ever played at, regular, pre and post season, with descriptions of stadiums and certain games. Falcons last win at opposition, OT w-l-t records, overall w-l-t records, total games played against all teams, Falcons records vs opposing coaches, both active and inactive, a Falcons vs the NFL cheat sheet, an NFL team directory, and all NFL w-l-t records. almost forgot, a Falcons w-l-t site records sheet as well. The book is also illustrated throughout with Falcons artwork, and other NFL team representations. Each week during the season, the book is updated with the current results and anything else that accompanies it. The origins of the book go back to 1981, when it was good ol' pen, paper and pencil. It was a bitch every week to do this, even though at the time the book was very basic, just the all time regular series combined with the postseason games, with the all time standings, Falcons team directory, and a few logos, and that was it. Hated when I had to make a new replacement page because of too many eraser marks! Book is now fully cyberspace and binder. Got real cool looking Falcon pics inside and out. Book finally entered the 21st century in 2004. This book does not have any player stats or bios in it. It's all franchise stuff. Got all of the material from media guides, the Official NFL Record and Fact book, and Pro Football Reference.com. The new version of the book took a few months to compile, copying, looking for pictures, etc. A lot of late nights on the computer. If you folks think I have a lot of time on my hands, I don't. I have three kids under the age of six, which occupy most of my time. I do find the time when they are at school, sleeping, with grandparents, mother, etc. The book is an ongoing project, always adding and subtracting stuff. It's a lot of fun. Next week, I'll continue with my weekly series of the series history against the 2011 opposition, which will be the Colts.
