Falcons Clinch Top Seed In NFC, Crush Panthers

Stay connected for news and updates

Put simply, the Falcons won today. It was more than just a simple win, though.

The Falcons beat the stuffing out of the Panthers, clinched an NFC South title and locked up home field throughout the playoffs. They won the right to take a week off, getting a first round bye and holding off the Saints and Buccaneers, two talented teams who also happen to be divisional rivals. And they finished the season 13-3, one of their best records ever.

I'd call every part of that a win for the organization, its players and its fans. It's taken a lot of hard work to get to this point, and I commend everyone from Arthur Blank down to Eric Weems for what they've been able to do. I don't know about you, but I plan to spend the rest of the day celebrating.

We'll have a recap tomorrow and a ton of regular season retrospectives, playoff thoughts and more throughout the week. Until then, talk the Falcons and the late games here.

Go Falcons!
