Vote For The 2010 Atlanta Falcons Regular Season Moment Of The Year

The playoffs are just beginning for the Falcons, but the regular season is in the books. Let's reflect on what was truly awesome about 2010.

It was a season of great moments, many more than can be squashed into a single poll.

Out of 37 comments, we received a clear pattern of nominations. Kroy Biermann's rambling interception and touchdown against the Browns, Roddy White's desperate strip of Nate Clements of the 49ers, White's winning touchdown catch against the Ravens, Eric Weems' rambling kickoff return for a touchdown against the Buccaneers and Matt Bryant's clutch field goal against the Saints in the Falcons' first game against them. All are worthy nominees.

Vote your way through it and we'll choose a winner come Wednesday!

Voted Ryan2White

IMO Beer man’s interception return is the second best. Just because of how ridiculous it was.

Third is Eric Weems.

Roddy White’s strip is fourth. It was cool and all but was just a part of a bigger moment. The fact that we moved the ball some 110 yards in 1:22 in clutch time is more impressive than the strip.

and the field goal is last. though still great.

Yeah but who does that? Except for Roddy?

I’ve never seen it before he did it last year. That’s just amazing.

All very worthy choices, of course

But I love the strip because it’s the only moment on the list involving a player going above and beyond the duties of his position. That’s not to say that White—or any other professional athlete—should’ve been expected to do anything less in that situation, but still. Among the biggest fears a fan can have is that your team will start doing things half-assed when victory appears out of reach, so it’s nice to have confirmation that ours is not that kind of team.

I have to agree with ya, though I didn't pick that one!

I can’t say I’ve ever seen a WR hustle like that before, with the exception of Larry Fitzgerald in the Super Bowl (though he didn’t get to Harrison)

What’s even better is that Roddy has done it before. He says some questionable things sometimes, but you can’t question his heart. He plays 100% all the time, and it’s awesome.

I have to pick Biermann's pick

That play was the single most symbolic moment of what this team stood for this season: resistance. Matty Ice and Co. were not having the best day. The defense was playing well but the game was much closer than it should have been. Biermann’s effort on that play represents everything that I watched this team for this year. It represented that when the chips are down, this team will not give up. I certainly realize that really every other play on this list represents the same exact thing, but Biermann’s individual effort, I think, is the best example.

for me, the best moment of the regular season was...

by far the bryant kick to beat the undefeated champion saints in the superdome!! To me that got this team over the hump and let them know they could compete with the elite teams as well as telling the whole world we had finally arrived!! The begining of a historic season!!

I think the best moment was winning in NO

that was huge for this team and tremendous for their confidence… I think their record would be very different without that single significant event (sure, we probably would have beaten NO in the GA Dome then, but what about some of the other key victories like Green Bay and Baltimore)

Based on how I felt when that happened, nothing else this season has been that long standing in my mind – though all very great moments

know what you believe in and why you believe in it

has to be bryant's field goal,

simply because it was possibly the most important play of the season. We went to the superdome and won giving us the division lead and we just wouldn’t let go, take away that win and our season is completely different.

next would be roddy’s strip of clements because again it was an important play in the big picture sense of it helped keep that home streak alive and was dame awesome

Weems is third because its similar to Roddy’s strip but not quite on the same level as a amzing, though still amazing and game changing

Bierman is fourth because it was possiblt the most brilliant play a DE has ever perfomred it was pure beauty and will forever be my moment of the season, but it wasn’t as game changing or season impacting as the others and thats why is down at 4th

Ravens touchdown is last for similar reason to bierman, yeah it showed the national media we are not to be fracked with and can hold out own against the ‘big boys’ of the league but in all honesty I wasn’t suprised, I always felt we could win, I trusted Ice and Roddy to do it and in all honesty in the raven’s game, hell in that drive even, I think jenkins’ fingertip grab was a better moment.

My best moment..

Watching Blank get the Gatorade bath. This meant, we had won our divison and first round bye..Truly unforgetable.. How many owners get done like that and still laugh..

But if its a play it’s Roddy’s strip on Nate. After going down the field to catch the pass he then had to turn around and chase him down to strip him. Then he gets right back on the field and is the main reason we head back down the field for the score..

by DesertFalcon on Jan 10, 2011 9:26 PM EST reply actions

My personal favorite was beating the Ravens.

It was a prime-time game against a great opponent, but what really sealed it for me was the fact that Matt Ryan had a signature win. He’s had some great moments before, but that was the first game he squarely put the game on his shoulders and really excelled. Throwing 50 times with no picks, and showing why he was picked before Flacco just made me giddy for at least a week. Roddy’s strip and Biermann’s pick were better individual plays, but that victory put to bed any doubts I still had about our franchise qb.

Beer Man's TD

Was a top 3 play in the NFL this season, IMO.

by Fatvirus on Jan 11, 2011 12:57 PM EST reply actions

ALL GOOD

but winning in NO has to be an epic changing of the guards for our season and future!
