How goes it guys? Just a quick question and I was hoping I could get an honest answer(s) from the folks here.
As probably all of you know the NY Giants decided to fork over some dough and make Michael Boley their starting WILL last year. What some may not know is that under our new Defensive Coordinator’s scheme the WILL is actually more like a SAM this year.
Over the first 3 games of the season Mr. Boley has not shown me a whole lot. I honestly thought he played better last year (fresh off the hip surgery mind you)….and again @ the WILL position.
I have heard a ton of excuses why Boley lost his starting job in ATL: Coaching, Schemes, Not the Right Fit, blah blah blah...
Last year I thought he was above average in pass coverage….not great, but above average. However, his ability to play the run leaves something to be desired. Sure when our DT’s are opening up holes for him he looks pretty good, but in a crowd you usually see #59 getting pushed out of the play.
What scheme was he playing in ATL that made Jerry Reese go out and sign this guy? Why did he really get benched in ATL? What are you honest thoughts on him as a football player?
I know he’s no longer a Falcon….I know this. Please spare me the “he’s a Giant now so he sucks” comments. I just want an honest assessment from people who have probably seen Boley play more than any other NFL fans out there.
Thanks in advance.
Sidenote: I'm not a big stat guy but I have requested PFF grades on Boley from a few SB Nation bloggers with no success. If anyone has access please let me know.
