Atlanta Falcons Release Safety Eric Brock
This should get you in the proper frame of mind.
While some teams jettison six players at once, the Falcons are taking the gentlemanly approach. Every good executioner should take the time to lavish individual attention on those facing the axe. It's the proper way to do things.
Anyways, unsurprisingly Eric Brock did not beat out Shann Schillinger for the last safety spot on the Falcons. Brock has been an on-again, off-again member of the Falcons for a while now, and he did nothing but offer solid special teams value and a little average play in the time he was here. Unfortunately for him, Schillinger caught fire in the pre-season and Brock is on his way to free agency land again.
I will, however, bet you a significant amount of Monopoly money that he'll be back with the team next time there's an injury in the secondary.

Also, Crayton dealt to Chargers.
…for a 7th round pick.
Guess we really aren’t looking for WR help after all. :/
"Ryan, under center. Single receiver set, to either side. Ryan, gonna throw. First professional pass.....CAUGHT!! Jenkins! 30! 25! 20! 15! 10! 5! He lives in Atlanta!!!" -Wes Durham
Or they were looking to trade him out conference
I really believe we could upgrade on Brian Finneran, but it would come at the cost of a learning curve for whoever we brought in. I still think Dezmon Briscoe will be released by the Bengals, who are extremely deep at receiver, and I still believe he could do some nice things for us.

HOUSH
Do you guys think we have a chance at the Housh. Seattle will be releasing the guy soon meaning we won’t have to pick up this 7million salary and the seahawks will still have to pay it. If we can sign him to a short term deal he could come at a great value and add another threat to our offense. I know that TD and Company don’t like to build through the draft, but if we can get the right price, why not? Release Finneran and sign HOUSH.
Thoughts?

“TD and Company like to build through the draft”

agreed
we have the veteran presence with Finn but why not get the same presence with a better WR? and the whole “build through the draft” thing is actually really starting to piss me off. when your rebuilding a team from the ground up, thats a good strategy, but we’ve got the peices in place so why not go for some great free agents? look at the jets, they didnt build through the draft and they look like one of the best teams in the league now after signing many big name free agents.

I'd take Housh
Be aware that he’s lost at least one step, so you’re not going to get the same kind of wheels out of him that even Michael Jenkins has. But he’s a much better possession receiver in the truest sense, so I’d much prefer to have him over Brian Finneran.

I agree on this whole heartedly
I have made my opinion on the Housh bandwagon more than clear.
GO. SIGN. HOUSH.
He will be one of the best #2s in the league.
know what you believe in and why you believe in it
If we aren't looking for help
maybe we don’t need help, even from Housh.

i never wish an injury on another player
but seeing that now both Darren Sharper and Clint Ingram are on the PUP list, kinda excites me

They had it last year
Really Bad
And still one it all.
They can still lose about six more players and still be better then next year (on paper at least)

Earth to Dimitroff, come in please !!!!
Real Falcon fans take a step back & really look at our offense, mainly our WRs. If you were a diehard fan of any other team in the league & had to play the Falcons would you fear our WRs ? Be honest now. Over the past 5 to 6 years we had had trouble with this position as well as CB. We have always made some type of move to address the secondary each off season, but when it comes to WR we drag our feet. Roddy is solid, but look around it seems like every decent team in the NFL has at least one good set of hands on their team, some even have a few. I know Dimitroff is trying to do it the way he was taught, but if you could pick up Patrick Crayton for a 7th rd pick, I mean c’mon, this is not Chinese geometry. Its wishful thinking to want to pick up TJ from Seattle. I think some of Belichik’s stubborness rubbed off on Dimitroff . Oh yeah he was quoted in the AJC, saying that Mike Jenkins is still developing, Say What ???
red clay man
"This is not Chinese geometry"
That is awesome.
But I think you’re not giving Dimitroff enough credit for repairing all the other holes on the roster. Wide receiver was his last priority because something had to be, and clearly the Falcons believe that with Gonzo and Roddy White they can afford to patch for another year.
I guarantee you they’ll hit the position hard in the off-season.
