One Falcon To Watch: Jonathan Babineaux
Every week before the Falcons game, I'll be selecting one player to keep an especially close eye on. This week, it's defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux.
In case I haven't hammered this into your skulls enough this week, pressure it going to be the key to stopping the New Orleans Saints today. The key to that pressure? Your friend and mine, Mr. USS Babineaux!
The Falcons operate better up front with Babineaux is in the game. He's got the ability to slash inside and make his way through the dense thicket of guards and centers to nail the quarterback. When you can generate enough pressure on the interior of the line, the focus on protection goes inward, freeing up defensive ends and linebackers to make the push from the outside.
You can argue that an outside push does the same thing in reverse, but the Falcons don't have power on the edges and the Saints are well-equipped at tackle. No, it's going to take Babineaux and his merry men at defensive tackle to kick this one off proper. Why watch Babineaux specifically, when we also have Corey Peters, Peria Jerry, Vance Walker and Trey Lewis clogging up the middle?
Because Babs is awesome, that's why. Keep a close eye on him, and expect him to pick up at least one sack of Drew Brees.

Great pick for one Falcon to watch
I choose DT overall for this game. I said in a earlier post that today we will see and understand why we have so many DT’s!

Just got home from a 12 hour shift, got a 13 hour one tonight starting at 8 eastern. Should I stay up for crappy yahoo gamecast and get 2 hours of sleep?
Oh yeah, we need a sack, a forced fumble, and at least 2 passes batted down from Babs today!

You need sleep, man
….But you also need Falcons.

This is the conclusion I came to
I will make the call at halftime, if the game is one sided (in either direction) I will go to sleep. If it is close, I will stay up.
That’s the best I could do…

same here
They are showing it on AFN out here in Iraq and it starts at 8pm. I worked a 12er today and a 12er tomorrow (what the heck…I work 6-12s a week!). So hopefully I get to see Babs and Bierman rip Brees number off his jersey and rearrange the logo on his helmet.
This may be the only game I get to watch this season so do me proud!
We'll dedicate this one to you, muu
Be safe out there!

Tough decision
Once upon a time I had a GF she would deprive herself of sleep to talk to me.
Now I have to get into sports to replace her.

I think the Falcons pressure will be effective today.
Saints offense is not the same without Bush.
I expect Thomas will wear down if he has to play the whole game.
He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is
micheal jenkins is inactive

Agreed on all points
Thomas may actually be saved for later in the game, so the Falcons will have to keep an eye on him.
