SB Nation Atlanta Editor's Pick
Ask A (apparently jersey stealing) Bird!
Hey guys,
Not sure why da boss hasn't dropped a thread on here yet but I thought I would since your informative leader has already jumped our forum.
Just for you info, Beanie Wells should play. Fitz is okay, just not in football shape. Yes DA missed some huge throws but he has shown promise with his opening and closing drive. Yes Steve Breaston can replace Q. Leinart who?
If you have any questions, ask away. The more frank the question the more honest the answer!
I hope for a great game and no injuries!

WHY'D YOU GUYS STEAL OUR JERSEYS!??!?!?
Just kidding. I’ll come up with something intelligent when I return from school, but for now, you get my Rec.

how has your offensive scheme changed
since the departure of Kurt Warner? have you guys became a run first team now or is it still air it out?

Looking for balance
Whiz definitely wants to run the ball more with Beanie and Hightower but our line and backs have had some issues. Communication with the line is still shaky with Levi Brown switching from LT to RT, Brandon Keith starting and the new addition of Faneca. Hopefully as they improve so will our run game. Another issue is putting the ball on the ground. Hightower had two extremely untimely fumbles with one in the redzone and one when we were icing the clock after what should have been a game ending INT. Beanie has also had some issues.
It’s also tough to pass when you have Fitz, Breaston and Doucet in your WR stable. All three can make big plays.

FYI you might want to warn DA.
Kroy Bierman and JA55 have a sack competition they just started on twitter.

I am sure he is aware
If St. Louis gave us trouble, your D may give us fits.

We like you guys
Even though you stole our digs and shafted us in the play-offs. Maybe its because of Whizzy. One question, why the HELL did you let your man Q go to the ravens?
Rule #1: Double tap.
Thanks for the respect
The feeling is mutual on our boards.
Why did we let go of Q? Many of us are asking the same question. Many of us had serious man crushes on the guy (me included). But he wanted Fitz money and we had two young guys in the wings chomping at the bit. The new generation of Bidwell isn’t cheap like his old man, rather he sees that we can’t drop 20 mil on two receivers when we got a guy like Darnell Docket we can’t let get away.

Being a Falcons fan in Phoenix
isn’t easy but I kinda see why you guys let him go. I can’t imagine you guys giving him Fitz type money or him not holding out. He’s been wanting to see the big paycheck for a while now.
Not to mention that even with Fitz and Q on the team, Breaston still had a very good year as a slot receiver. I remember seeing him in some games and being really impressed…… then really sad because he would remind me that we didn’t have HD.
I’m curious to see how your ILBs try and handle TG… I think he’ll have something to prove this week and I expect to see him with over 5 catches.

We do struggle against TE's
Or did last year. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a big day

We don't even use those jerseys anymore

Make sense
Bidwells probably found them in the discount bin…

we dont use them currently
but we still have them. i asked Jay Michael Moore a while ago on atlantafalcons.com and he said that currently we are using the throwbacks instead for the next couple of years but we’ll eventually switch back sometime

I love the throwbacks.
Reminds me of Pee Wee ball. I represented The B.A. Falcons, stood for Bill Arp but we always said Bad Ass.

i don't know why
FOX makes the Cardinals Secondary color yellow.
The only thing about the cardinals that’s yellow is the beak of the cardinal logo.

By then
We’ll probably update our whole uniform wardrobe, so it’s safe to say we are done with those 2003 black jerseys and the impending lockout issues, a lot of teams will likely revamp their image a year later.

Here's an interesting one for ya.
Do you think Derek Anderson focuses too much on Fitz?
We have a problem like that over here. Matt Ryan threw 23 of his 44 passes at Roddy White this week, and we find that to be a bit……too many.
If I remember right, Fitz had 15 targets with only 3 receptions. Naturally, he’s probably drawing infinity coverage on his side, but do you think that those 12 un-caught balls would be better off spread out to other receivers? Do you feel like Fitz needs that many targets (but at the risk of 80% of them being defended) to keep defenses honest? How do you feel about that, and what approach do you think your offense will take against our still-semi-unproven secondary?

Personally I think that they’ll try and get Breaston into the passing game more. He was 7/7 for 132 yards…. if that doesn’t earn him some extra looks then maybe he can find some flares.

I'd like to believe our improved D and home field advantage won't make that so easy.
I do suspect you’ll burn us deep at least once. Our DBs have improved, but they’re not Revis Islands. If we can limit the damage you guys do through the air, we’ll be in good shape.

I think that will be one of the most intriguing matchups
This game should give us a really clear picture on what we can expect from our DBs for the rest of the season. Unless Wells and Hightower run all over our D line (after last week I have trouble seeing that happen), I see this as the deciding factor on that side of the ball.

It seemed like he was forcing it a few times on Sunday
And I don’t know if it was Fitz’s injury and chemistry problems, or DA’s accuracy issues but a lot of those throws were just way off target.
When he is healthy (and his timing is down with the QB), he can catch almost anything thrown his way though. I’m sure that you guys remember him catching the flea flicker during the 2008 game while he was in double coverage.

Ok I'll state the obvious.
I know they won’t but our guys need not make any assumptions about the quality of team we are playing this week. This team is a playoff team twice in a row. They have won 100% of their games and we have lost 100% of ours this season. We need to treat this like our SB because if we walk the dog on this one we are in for a rough season.

I'm not worried about us slacking off
our coaching staff responds to losing pretty well… the Falcons normally come out and massacre our opponents after a tough road loss and Matt Ryan is 13-1 in the GA Dome for a reason. I expect the Falcons to show up blazin.

Are the Cornerbacks Left/ Right
Or is DRC going to shadow Roddy all game?

I think I have seen them move around before.
DRC will probably be on White the entire game though. Toler looked good though, he was solid in coverage, he made 13 tackles, and he forced a fumble on one of them.

I’m worried about the 3-4 defense. They held Steven Jackson to 80 something yards. Was that total due to a bad oline of St Louis, or a stout front 7 of Arizona. After Turner’s slow start last week, what can we expect from them.
wait a minute
Steven Jackson played in that Cardinals game?

22 rush 81 yards 0 TDs
Yes, and his stats were pretty average. And if Turner plays the same way he did against Pittsburgh, I think he will have a hard time matching that number.

Tell us about Stephen Williams
He’s a big, scary dude, and I know he’s gotten some pre-season hype. Should we worry about him being covered by our mighty mites at corner?

He has promising potential
But he is still a rookie. He has good height, good speed, good hands, and can make plays. But he makes the wrong reads sometimes and goes to the wrong places. Though his timing with DA is better than the other receivers because they played a lot together during preseason.
We will see with our “hyped” rookies though. Sometimes preseason is like beer goggles.

Do you all every look back at that wildcard playoff game from 2 years ago?
and thank Keith Brooking for falling into your beautifully executed play action trap on 3rd and 17 that led to the Falcons being completely unable to come back?
or maybe you all didn’t even notice…
I’m just wondering
