Falcons-Steelers Second Half Open Thread

Photo

Continue the discussion here, everyone. What a battle thus far.

Some quick observations as we muddle through the half:

  • The Falcons defense looks excellent so far. They're active, quick and alert, and the Mike Peterson interception was a thing of beauty. Hopefully they'll continue in the second half.
  • The offense is still sputtering, but at least there's signs of life. The Falcons have to get the ball to Harry Douglas and open things up for Tony Gonzalez and Roddy White.
  • Playcalling is still a major obstacle here. We've got to see a better pass rush, and we've got to see less Michael Turner up the middle into eight defenders.
  • Matt Bryant is something else, alright.

Come on man

It’s early. That game could have gone either way and that’s a defense that will finish in the top 5 in the NFL. Call me crazy, but I’ll reserve judgment until the sample size gets a little larger.

http://hobnailboot.wordpress.com/

by AuditDawg on Sep 12, 2010 4:27 PM EDT up reply actions

It's early????

Are you kidding me? We just lost to a 3rd string QB and put up 3 FGs. Yeah, our defense looked pretty good. But our offense was incredibly bad. Matt Ryan looked awful. The first half he was overthrowing everyone and the second half his happy feet returned. That INT was a great play by Palomaulu, but also showcased Matt’s weak ass arm and inability to look off a throw. I predicted 7-9 this year and am sticking to my guns.

by Monduj1 on Sep 12, 2010 4:32 PM EDT up reply actions

My sample size of the past couple years

is enough to tell me what kind of vanilla offense this is. We made no adjustments and we couldn’t get in the endzone again when we were inside the 20. When was the last time the starting offense has been in the endzone?
