Pat Yasinkas of ESPN's Poll: Matt Ryan Most Popular Falcon Ever? Let Us Correct This

This is embarrassing. You know, and I know, and even our NFC South rivals know that a two-year quarterback isn't the most beloved Falcon of all time. But we'd hate for other fans to think we have such short memories (and such a void of history) that Ryan could have already surpassed our entire Ring of Honor.

Go here to vote. He mentions Jessie Tuggle among the current contenders (along with our two-year head coach -- come on, people), but not Tommy Nobis or Jeff Van Note. I voted Tuggle for that reason, to avoid splitting the vote.

I'm sorry, but seriously?

Either 90% of Falcons fans just signed on in the last five seasons, or we all have a short-term memory problem.

Hell, I remember Tommy Nobis

How could we forget him? I bet a lot of Saints ball carriers still remember him, too. And now that Rickey Jackson is finally in the Hall, how about Tommy?

Jeff van Note, great player. But for fear factor alone, it’s got to be Nobis. Though I don’t want to tell you guys what to do.

It was worth the wait.

See that you don't!

Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s enough old-timey Falcon fans to really push Nobis up over the top, though he’d clearly deserve it. I’ll settle for Tuggle being recognized over a third year quarterback, though.

Jiminy Christmas!

What falcon fans, sometimes I am embarassed by how little the fans follow and REALLY watch this team. Dont Be a bandwagon fan!
Tuggle was great!
Matt Ryan has a lot yet to show me before I sign in blood, so lets not jump to any conclusions

Jessie Tuggle was my fav Falcon to use on Tecmo Super Bowl.

I don’t remember him playing much (I was too young to care at that point) but he was my favorite Falcon, for sure. He was just a cool guy.

Wow, this ESPN voting is totally meaningless, isn't it?

So you can vote for players, coaches OR management? How about the towel boy? What a freakin’ joke.

I wonder if the same dedication to quality content exists in other Disney media companies besides ESPN…

Is Jeff George an option?

But seriously, it has to be Jessie Tuggle.
