UPDATE: It appears DOL may have misheard his tape. It's a possibility that he'll miss the game, apparently.

Our shiny new cornerback already has some damage. He's injured enough that he'll have to miss the first pre-season game against the Kansas City Chiefs, which likely opens up a lot of playing time for Chris Owens and Brent Grimes.

Hat tip to the AJC's DOL for this one.

what he said

True randomness might get you calling a Hail Mary play on first-and-goal from the two yard line. You might catch the defense off guard with that, but your likelihood of scoring would be much less than if you called the utterly predictable halfback dive. - TSK

I almost saw the same thing too.

Your story almost reminded me of a Best of Craigslist posting I saw somewhere, about a guy using the bathroom, had a blockage (I won’t explain how), then his cat got freaked and he slipped in his own puddle as he describe every millisecond of the 5 second ordeal.

My life is multiplied and then divided by zero.

Misheard his tape?

Huh?

Not quite accurate

He went back and reviewed the tape and found the quote was POSSIBLY missing a game. So yeah.

Come on TomQ...

Why the sarcasm/criticism? We all know how much you LOVE DOL (and soccer) ;-)

LOL...

You read my tone!

As an aside...

I read your comments in response to DOL on that soccer post of his (you linked to it the other day)…I 100% agree with your stance…I never really had an issue with him before, but when I read his responses to your comments (which weren’t inflammatory), I just shook my head…

Thanks for your support :)

Yeah – I couldn’t believe that he would, as a “professional” sportswriter, use his platform to belittle another sport. Then, when confronted about it, he couldn’t even see what the problem was, and he continued to make derogatory statements. I lost what little respect I had for him at that point. Unfortunately, I’m bad about holding on to grudges…I’ll try not to be a Richard about it every time we bring up Douchebag Orlando Ledbetter (that’s what the D. stands for). Okay, that was the last one!

Just to play devil's advocate

DOL is hardly the first writer to mock soccer for no good reason and then get defensive about it. It doesn’t make it right, but it’s hardly unique.

You're right...

and they all sound like cliche meat heads when they do it.

Alright guys let's calm down

This is probably a precautionary move in order to keep Dunta healthy.

Also, keep in mind that in the heat at Flowery Branch guys are going to get tight do to electrolyte loss. Let’s not make this worse that it is.

Precautionary

In the chat today J Adams said that it was a tight hamstring and that is usually a precursor to injury. Naturally, the Falcons are bringing him back slowly.

I do like how our staff can predict injuries now and hold out players to prevent them. I think that will lead to a more injury free season.

I agree

it is like the new coaching staff had such instant success it is often hard to remember that we do have a young team that is going to fight the learning curve.

At least they learn

know what you believe in and why you believe in it

When you think about it...

Against Kansas City
We may not need our Corners to play anyways.
New England is more of a Challenge to our Secondary

oh mercy...

Dunta isn’t gonna pull an Alex English, is he?
Oh my, the smell of injured reserve is drifting
through…why the pessimism? 44 years as a
Falcons fan, and a tweak is never just a tweak.
At least not in our corner of the NFL universe.

HIT SOMEBODY! (except Dunta)

sadly i predicted that he would get hurt i just knew it

I think this is ok tho even if its the first 2 preseason games. I just wanna see him at 100% and playing good come week 1. I’m more concerned that at this rate he gets hurt again after this injury. I get the impression that he’s going so hard out there maybe trying 2 lead and prove something 2 his new team. Somebody tell him we know his abilities and that he’s our #1 guy at corner, relax a little, just show up game time, and save it for the field
