Around SBN: Notre Dame's Turnaround: How Have The Irish Done It?

The 10-11 season realistic thread

Alot of fans and experts expect the falcons to win the divison and go deep in the playoffs this yr. I dont see it. I know your not supposed to put to much attention into preseason but with NO looking in mid season form its hard not to. Alot of people expect matt to be elite this yr but i dont think he will and im fine with that. I dont care if its this yr or next yr as long as he gets there. Most elite QBs wait a couple years before even getting on the field and Matt was thrown out to the lions(no pun intended) from day 1. So of course hes going to struggle a little. I see a 10-6 record(if we get a steady kicking game) and a wildcard berth. I think the saints will win the divison with a 11-5 record. We face alot of 3-4 defenses this year and i think MM will over work the Burner again which will lead matt to struggle more this year.

I think we can steal some wins like Cincy, Philly, and NO at home. The offense will sputter unless matt starts distributing the ball better as i see alot of Gonzo double coverage on 3rd downs. Also alot of RW double coverages  on 3rd and longs. I think matts #s will be 25-15 with a 60% completion percentage. The defense will be much improved. I see our overall D top 15 if Dunta can be that shutdown corner we paid him all that money to be. Biermann will be the most improved player in the league and him and JA55 will notch 8-10 sacks each. Spoon will help improve the pass coverage and we will finish top 20 in that category. Lofton will make the pro bowl and our run defense will be top 10. I also dont see Bryant staying as our K for the whole year. Hopefully we find a replacement that can turn into a permanent starter.

I do have us making the playoffs but im not going to predict were we finish. The playoffs are a whole new season so i hope we can have a cardinal like run. With a great draft and offseason and with matts evolution i think were favored out of the NFC along with GB next year. I dont see superbowl this year but i think with the right steps were primed for many in the near future.

You read my mind

I have us at 10-6 right now. The defense I think could finish around 12th, what with the addition of Robinson and the emergence of Biermann (I predict 11 sacks). I see us getting many more turnovers and 3 and outs than last year, due to the increased team speed. I don’t think the offense progresses quite as much as people expect, but I still see something like 26 TDs and 13 INTs for Matt Ryan. I don’t think he gets to 4,000 yards, however. There just won’t be a need for it. Turner will get ~1,700 yards and 15 TDs. And I think Matt Bryant isn’t a great kicker but he does the job. He loses us one close game, but isn’t the disaster that Elam was last year.

As for the playoffs: I see us as a wildcard team. I think we win our first game but lose in the divisional round. Everyone is disappointed but hey, it’s progress. No one gets fired, our coordinators stick around and with a great 2011 draft we make it to the NFC Championship…whether we win or not….well I’ve predicted way too far already.

hells naw! i respect ur opinions, but

But look, if the saints win the division it’ll be because they had a much better record because I dnt think they beat us this year, damn sure not in atlanta. They got lucky AGAIN with Minnesota being so beat up for week 1 so that may be. I got us 10-6 11-5 or 12-4 with us makin the playoffs. From there we can make a run to the nfc championship game and maybe even the superbowl. If we get a kicker I think 12-4 but with bryant I got 10-6. I think we get the playoffs regardless. I think our d is gonna b really good and the offense will be inconsistent but douglas will help and jenkins will help. BECAUSE we got better and I don’t think the Aints really did

Saints got lucky all year long.

Like that Grimes int called pack for pass interference and many other like scenarios. No, the little hallmark moment is going to come crashing down for them.

i agree. The skins game, or the miami game, or the carolina game, or the minnesota game, or the colts game!

but now i have them winning week 1 because the viking receivers are beat up. with the schedule that they have, i think we end up with the same record. divisional games will be crucial and i think we come out on top possibly sweeping the division. MAYBE a loss to them in N.O. but damn sure not in ATL.

Well Pierre (closet saint?)

I do see it and Matt is going to light it up this season. We have more weapons on offense than most teams dream to have. Oh yeah and the D is better than people think as well. The Falcons are going to knock that golden horse shoe out of the Aints arse this season and take the division.

Life is a garden. Dig it!

I don't have a problem overworking Turner

if he averages 3.5 yards a carry that means every 3 times you hand him the ball we get a first down.

Works for me.

know what you believe in and why you believe in it

til we hit 370 carries again and his ankle explodes.

I don’t want that again :(

he was the work horse in '08

and I think he will not have that injury again unless something weird happens. But we still have Norwood and Snelling was surprising last year. If Turner goes down, it might not be as bad as it was last year
