The Atlanta Falcons Training Camp Open Thread, Day Three
Suffice to say, the 2010 Atlanta Falcons training camp has been interesting.
You've had some injury issues rearing their ugly heads already (Colin Peek, Chevis Jackson), encouraging reports on exciting young players (Kerry Meier, Sean Weatherspoon) and the early days of position battles unfolding in front of us. The team's even making roster moves, albeit ones that involve guys who likely top out as camp bodies.
In a more general sense, I'm giddy as a schoolgirl just to have the NFL back in a meaningful form. I'm seriously stoked to see who comes out the starter opposite Dunta Robinson, or who makes the team out of the stable of rookie wide receivers the team has brought on board. Glad you're all along with me for the ride.

Special thanks to those commenters who have been willing and able to update us on training camp as it happens. You guys are doing the Football Lord's work.
Now discuss!

Morning practice seemed a little ho-hum...
…but I had to leave early (whiny nephew), so maybe I missed the cool stuff. Ovie was scaring the crap out of people. Meier is a beast – looks like a TE. Bear Woods is an insane human being, and would tackle a dump truck if it had a football. Without Pads. S. Nicholas looked a little heavy and slow. Willie Moore is REALLY hustling – even when running back to the line after a drill. Garret Reynolds has bulked up some, but looks faster.
What's up with this DR23 condition talk?

hadn't heard about conditioning issues with him
But he can’t have more than an 20 inch waist. Seriously, I think I could have wrapped my hands around it. And I don’t have big hands.
Anywho, he looked like he was in shape and ready to go. Didn’tt see him making spectacular plays in practice yesterday, but I don’t think conditioning was contributing.

C.Jackson injury
Any news on that?
On the battle between Grimey and Owens @ starting corner opposite DR.
It`s not too big of an issue with me as the (so called loser) will get plenty of reps at in the nic spot.
what the hell is going on!
Here I sit.Its five twenty five PM and I keep hearing rumors about D. Robinson. You know what its two thousand and ten.We have computers and twitter and all kinds of stuff and a person can’t get a GD answer to a question.I gotta tell ya I’m tired of the cryptic bull thats goin down with this team. Why cant we get a fkin answer?

Dunta is fine
it was just a tight hamstring and he’s day to day. he even joined the team for the last half hour of practice per the AJC
everyone relax and breathe :)
Thanks to all who take pity on us peons and gave us some info
Thanks Mr Hawk,Mr Orion12, and last but not least Mr Cheshire Falcon!!!!!!!!!
Afternoon practice
Finally a Brandon Harvey sighting!… He burned Franks twice in one on ones and had a nice grab on grimes… Another rookie, Strickland, looks good… Just not enough to be top five on the team
Spoon blew some assignments by not knowing what coverage they were running and got blessed out by BVG
Jenkins had a nice route to the end zone in seven on sevens and jumped crazy hy to get the ball from Ryan… But… He dropped it
Meier is GOING to make the team
Robinson and Jerry both didn’t practice today but were both out there
Grimes had a nice pass break up… Jumped about 100 feet in the air after he looked beat, and probably should have picked it off
The safety race is definitely a good problem for us to have… Both Coleman and Moore look up to the task
Also… On another note… Tyson Clabo is a crazy person… It’s 100 degrees outside and he wears PANTS everyday
The pads come on tomorrow ppl!!!!!!
Thanks buddy.

So glad to be hearing good news about Meier
I’ve had high hopes for this dude since we drafted him…I’ve been saying all along that he was our best value in this draft.
Let's hope for a mild training camp.
It just seems like a lot of guys are coming into camp out of shape. A lot of injuries around the league, I just hope that we get thru camp without any major injuries!! Lets get thru the preseason with our team intact this year, instead of missing key contributers to the big guns on the team. I mean losing the likes of Douglas and Moore before we even started game 1 really sucked last year. I am praying for a much better outcome this preseason!! It looks like we might be seeing a lot of injuries around the league this year, seems like only about 25% of the league does offseason workouts to stay in shape!! That leaves 75% of the league more likely to get sometime of injury this preseason, one that could NAG them ALL year!!
Dear Football Gods,
Please give us one major injury free preseason this year, so that we may go forth and spread your religion across the globe and come out on top on Sunday’s oh great ones!!
Amen

"Some type" of injury
sorry

is jerry good? thats 2 days str8
Dunta can’t get hurt from trying 2 hard at a damn practice & or scrimmage. Someone tell him him he’s the starter & to take it easy . And I agree with wat someone said above. They should gradually progress instead of going hard out of shape. We can’t afford ANY injuries before the start of the season. Hopefully the coaches will have this in consideration and not have the guys practice 2 hard. I have faith that they will be ready on game day without 2 much 100% contact. Healthy is ready. We need all of our pieces

Is anyone going to the Mock Game on August 7th?
I would like to go, but I don’t have transporation to Flowery Branch.
Maybe I could share a ride for courtesy or a small price?
My life is multiplied and then divided by zero.
