Falcons Kicking

Is Atlanta really going forward with Hauschka/Bryant? I know neither are technically signed to date, but is this all Atlanta has to offer regarding kickers next year? Does anyone know if they are currently trying anyone else out? I know they were looking to the Canadian Football League some time ago.

FYI to Dimitroff. Justin Medlock's (last year's most accurate FG kicker in the CFL) old CFL has replaced him and the Redskins have cut him. He had a solid season a couple years ago with KC. I'd say give him a shot.

Whoa whoa whoa

I’m with you right up until you tell us that Medlock had a solid season with the Chiefs. He kicked in one game and got cut, because their coach was a doofus.

But I’m very comfortable bringing in Medlock to compete with Hauschka. I’ve said all along that I think we should attempt to address the future of the position. A contending team needs a good kicker that isn’t going to suddenly fizzle out because he’s hit an age wall, and I think Hauschka could give us that.

I'm warming up to Hauschka

Simply because he’s still got time to have a career as a Falcon. I worry about his accuracy, but with practice it should work itself out. He’s got as much of a leg as Bryant has, and he’s much younger. I guess we’ll see in the preseason…

Hauschka

Hey, if Hauschka’s the guy than he’s the guy. I’d prefer him to Bryant if only because of his age. But this is a position that we need to address going forward. Medlock would be my top choice. Or here’s a wacky idea, how about we actually draft a solid kicker? Use a 6th round pick on one an you could pull the best kicker in the draft. I know this would have to wait until the next draft, but seriously the one thing all these perrenial playoff teams have is a consistant pro-bowl kicker.
