Possibility of signing Bobby McCray???
Falcoholics,
I was just sitting here, online when I saw that Bobby McCray was released by the Saints. He has had solid games with the Saints, along with the capability of eating Brett Favre's lunch on a regular basis. He is ferocious coming off of the end, and hell, who else knows the two tackles for the Saints other than the man who has practiced against them for the past two years. I think that, with our defensive end corps continuously being in flux, that this could be a great move for the Birds. If only he could replace Jamall Anderson, then it would be worth it for me. Any comments?

I'm half-reclining here, on the internet, thinking that might not be a bad idea at all.
He’s youngish, injury-free, has only been in trouble once (attempted murder of Brett Favre), and is used to being a rotational guy — which also means he has a little more tread on the tires than the average six-year vet. He’s coming off a slumpy year, so he might have a chip on his shoulder. Or he might suck at football now.

thanks man
This is my first for my falcons, so this makes my day. I hope that they are really taking a good look at him. He has the possibility of making a difference in the NFC

maybe, but im a little biased when it comes to DE
I think we already have our long term replacement for abe. I’m from Richmond Va. the college home of Lawrence Sidbury. I watched him play as a spider and I’m tellin you the kid is the truth he ate qbs alive out there. With a year under his belt and learning from abe I’m willing to bet that he’s goin give us something this year. Forbidding the “lockout” I believe that by 2012 the he’ll good enough to start and be raising hell in the backfield.

I really do hope that is the case.... The birds need some type of continuity on the DE, and they havent been getting it recently.
If Sidbury can do the job, then more power to him, and hopefully a double digit sack year for him also. Hopefully, he can be something like LaMarr Woodley out there, and caused some serious trouble for opposing quarterbacks. That would make my season.

Don't write off Beer Man
He was A LOT better than Sid Vicious last year. Heck, he was better than most of the DEs in the league last year, PFF’s limitations and sample size notwithstanding.
In my fantasy league last year,
I had Bierman as one of my Defensive Ends, and he had a few games where he came through and won it for me. (We had individual defensive players in our league) I know what he is capable of, and I hope that he bulks up a little and keeps that speed. He was a pleasant surprise for my squad. In my opinion though, there is nothing wrong with a little competition from someone outside of the team. McCray can make plays, and if he can add to this team, I would love to see it.

beer mans my man
But sid was a rookie. I think they both gon be good. I’m more concerned with d lineman than end with Babs and jerry both likely out for who knows how long. I’m guessing 4 weeks 4 babs and jerry may not b effective for 4 weeks. That’s the hole in the d 2 me

and with Mike Smith
promising to be wiser on letting players come back from injury, I don’t expect to see much of Peria this year and what we do see will probably not show up on the stats sheet.
know what you believe in and why you believe in it

Uh oh
Dont light that fire again. Even though i am with the idea everyone would rather sign westbrook or even Webster before him

I second that
After everything that happened with Mike V (even though I am still, after everything, a Vick fan) I do NOT want any type of foolishness in our locker room at all. We have solid leadership, talented youth, and strong, positive personalities. T.O. would mess a lot of that up. We do not need him.

I am 100% in favor of signing Bobby Bouchet from Nawlins...
…or Bobby McCray from Nawlins, for that matter.
How many more days, Lord, must I walk through the wilderness?
You guys can have him.
He specializes in one area, and is not so special at it. If he was any good don’t you think that the saints would have forked over the money to keep him in an UNCAPPED year?

Money is still money uncapped or not.
I’m not saying I want the guy I’m just saying your reasoning is flawed. N.O is loaded with money grubbing players looking for a better deal. They could only sign so many before they take a more responsible aproach.

would you advocate putting 4 DE on the same roster?
I know i would not. Alex brown J. Wilkerson, along with Will Smith are twice as good as McCray was. In addition i do not see the need to pay McCray that much in a roster bonus, when his base salary should be less than that.

would you advocate putting 4 DE on the same roster?
Um. Yeah. And so would most GMs. In fact, please point me to one NFL team that didn’t carry 4 DEs last year.
Look, y’all won a freaking Superbowl, you don’t have to justify McCray going elsewhere by demeaning his ability. No one is saying he’s pro bowl caliber, or that his ‘09 campaign was even mediocre-at-best, but he’s a solid back up, and believe it or, just because the Aints can use him, there may be other teams that could.
He is a good player
and had a big part in us winning the superbowl and even getting there. I think everyone in New Orleans was shocked when he was released. With that said, I hope he doesn’t sign with any of our division foes.

How is this guy better than Chauncey Davis?
It may have been Pat Yasinskas at ESPN who mentioned it, but the Falcons tend to shore up one weak position by trade with a late-round pick, targeting a good player buried on some team’s depth chart (and likely to be cut). Though it’s been corners the last two years, DE could be a real possibility. And after a year of solid production for us, we let them walk in free agency and garner a compensatory pick. Give up Dominique Foxworth, and get Mike Johnson. Deal.
El Hombre Anaranjado, huh?
I like it.
You guys are right, though. He’s probably about the same thing as Chauncey Davis. He’s really good stopping the run, and a quick look back through the PRP numbers had him at 6.92 – just below Davis and Biermann. Probably one of the first calls (if he’s still available) if somebody gets hurt in training camp, but not a guy you’d dump somebody for.
