I know this is a little off subject since it has nothing to do with the Falcons, but I am curious to know everyone's opinions about the recent fan who was tasered when he ran onto the field. Personally, I have no problems with the police hitting the kid with a taser. I don't think it matters that the guy was seventeen, because a seventeen year old kid with a knife is a serious threat. In 2002, a Dodgers firstbase coach was attacked by a father and his fifteen year old son and they had a knife. Luckily players and security were able to stop them before much damage was done. How can anyone forget Monica Seles when she was stabbed by a crazy fan. In my opinion, that started an expedited decline in her career. Had the stabbing never happened, I think she would have had an even more stellar career. In a less extreme case, everyone remembers the fan running onto the field and stealing the ball from Brett Favre. To me, it is scary to think some lunatic could get close enough to a star athlete during a game and, if it is their intention, potentially harm them. I think if using tasers on people if they enter the field can deter people from doing it, they should continue doing it. If people are still willing to do it, I don't think the consequences are harsh enough. Lifelong bans from any sporting event, a massive fine, and criminal charges should only be the beginning. But, that is just my opinion. I am curious to know your thoughts.
