Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Like it or loath it, Chris Houston has been traded to the Detroit Lions for a sixth round pick. In addition, the Falcons swapped fifth round picks with the Lions, moving from the 18th selection to the 2nd. Good luck to Houston who...was...an Atlanta Falcon.

Better we get something for him in a trade

rather than getting nothing if/when we cut him. CBs seem to be set, so we can focus on other needs in the draft. Plus having extra picks is always a good thing.

Fiiiiiiif' quoth Dave Chappelle

I want to use our second pick of the fifth round for the tallest cornerback available.

Maybe there is no Heaven. Or maybe this is all pure gibberish — a product of the demented imagination of a lazy drunken hillbilly with a heart full of hate who has found a way to live out where the real winds blow — to sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whisky, and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested...Res ipsa loquitur. Let the good times roll.

I think....instead of going RB this year

(Exception being McCluster later) we should wait on RB and go Mark Ingram when he comes out. I don’t think he’ll be drafted high despite his heisman trophy win. He’s not ridiculously fast and he has good size, but I don’t think he’ll wow scouts with speed at the combine. Could change, though.

Let's get unpopular for a minute...

I think our team has depth. What it seems to lack is a stud pass rusher. I’m all up for giving up our second again next year if we could move up to take Jason Pierre Paul. The guy is out of this world…

I don't trust him.

He had one good year. Way too much bust potential for a first round pick (and next year’s second).

However, USF does have good defensive players.

See our Sam LB.

He reminds me too much of JA98...

and that scares me. One good year, all the physical skill, not that polished, leaving early….

Bit of a reach

Trading our second rounder next year to move up and grab Pierre would be a reach in my mind. If the Falcons were thinking of adding their 2nd rounder next year and moving up, I would much rather have them grab Morgan. I think Its a safe bet the Falcons will keep their pick and take Weatherspoon, who would love to be a Falcon.

"And their 1st pick in the 2010 NFL draft...The Atlanta Falcons select Sean Weatherspoon, LB Missouri."

Only thing about Spoon is

he’s a bit goofy (in a please don’t kick my ars kinda way). I like him but will his personality get in the way? Examples: 85, TO, neon etc. But I guess if he’s as good as any one of those guys who cares.

Rule #1: Double tap.
