Teams you like

hello fellow falcoholics, i got an interesting discussion for you all. i know we all like the falcons on this site. i want to know if there are any other teams out there that you dont mind see winning (as long as its not against us) explain why. lets discuss if there are any teams out there that could be a mirrior image of the falcons ( same strenghths weakness's etc.. finally what teams out there can you not stand (aside from our div rivals which is obveous) and some of your fav players outside our falcons

Star-divide

i like the rams. i kno they blow, but with stevon jackson as one of the best rb's in the league. it makes them worth watching. i like otagwue. bulger and boller arent bad if they could just get an oline and they have the first overall pick again. franchise qb???? suh??? fun. i also like the jags because of gerrard and mighty mouse. not to mention they gave us a good coach and plyers, lol. teams that i cant stand are the eagles ( seems like there fans are the worst) i dont like the pats, tom brady is a diva lil drama queen fudge smasher.  i love stevon jackson, maruice jones drew, revis, and fitzgeralds god like moves.

not really

I mean when I was a kid I kind of liked the steelers but that was when they were going to the SB every year. Bradshaw, Harris, Swann, Stallworth, Greene, etc…

Well...

I would have to say the Lions. I was a big Barry Sanders fan, as a kid, and now that they have Megatron and Stafford, they get my support. That and they may draft Suh (I grew up in Lincoln, Neb and, therefore am a Husker fan).

Check my band out on iTunes. The band name is Legend Has It and the album is titled "Driven." Let me know what you think.

Ditto. My entire non-Falcons NFL jersey collection: Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson.

Plus they’re giving our boy Meh Houston (© orang3b) a shot.

Big UGA fan here, so naturally I have a slight affinity for the Lions

their first victory last year almost brought me to tears, the way they celebrated with their fans after the game. It was truly something awesome.

Also, Stafford’s sweet separated shoulder pass (and Cleveland’s Mega Fail) was awesome.

Ravens

I have always loved the style that the ravens play, they seem to always have more intensity and focus than their opponent.

I really like where the 49ers are going.

I love the way Singletary runs the show over there, and the transformation for Vernon Davis will be something to keep an eye on. I absolutely hate the Patriots. Basically the Yankees of the NFL in my book. Favorite player is Macho Harris. Definitely don’t like the Eagles, but rooting for him. He was a teammate of mine in High School, then we were both Hokies!

My wife wants us to move for her work, she wants to put herself in position for a Judgeship. So she keeps asking me “what about xyz city” and obviously half the answers are “no way could I chear for those people, they’re all jerks!”

So via football we came up with places I could live with a team to support while watching the Falcons on tv:

Seattle, San Fransisco, Green Bay (she wont live there), Kansas City, Buffalo (she wont live there).

She wants, Washington DC, Chicago, New York, Miami, San Diego, and something else that I don’t recall atm. Don’t let this list reflect that I said they’re all jerks, that was mainly in reflection of cities I didn’t even list and some don’t have football. Though New York city will never have me, I do think most are jerks!

No Saints love?

I know, that’s a stupid question. Just kidding. For some odd reason, I like the Falcons except when they’re playing the Saints or challenging them for the division crown. I guess it’s because the Braves have long been my favorite MLB team.

I also like the 49ers because of Singletary now being there. How could anyone not respect that man and the attitude he brings to his team? I know, no one cares what a Saints fan thinks. Didn’t mean to troll. :)

I haven't

It’s taken so long to finally happen that I’m still trying to enjoy it. Many others are already focused on the draft and next season. Talk of repeat is in the air from some, but I realize how incredibly difficult that will be, so I’m enjoying the high while it lasts.

Underdogs

I have always been one to steer clear from “Winners” Everyone likes to jump on bandwagons and pick teams at the top of their game. I started wathing Falcons football in 79’ and have been a fan since. If I had to pick another team I’ve had a soft spot for, It’s been the Buccs.

Back in their day, they were lucky to win more then 4 games a year. Those pumpkin colored uniforms were not really intimidating. Their long streak of losing, bad luck in the drafts have made them a fan favorite of mine. Once they began to click and their defense was known as one of the best, My feelings changed. I didnt want the Buccs to win anymore. I’m still pleased they beat the Raiders in the bowl though. Now my soft spot belongs with the Lions =)

FORGOT ABOUT HATE: I hate teams that get way too much shine for way too little success.

Not the temporary talking-head’s sweethearts like the Chargers or the teams that actually win like the Pats… I mean the teams that have gigantic casual fanbases or happen to play in huge media markets.

So the Giants, Jets, and Cowboys, obviously.

But the Redskins take the NON-DIVISION HATE CAKE. Not only are they over-attended by the media and disproportionately popular around Atlanta, their name is a racist slur. So.

Look out for these teams

Texans
They showed they can fight and battle back with the best of teams with a high octane offense and an improving defense. They just need more consistency. I think they are getting closer, they got their first winning season. Look for them to possibly be a powerhouse!

Jets
Already have a steller run defense, and in the secondary has Revis (no explanation needed) and Cromartie, which means you may not be able to pass on them either.
They are improving on defense and offense too, by getting receivers for Sanchez who’s making better decisions, and still have a great running game. Look for them to win the AFC if everything gels.

Bears
They made a lot of offseason moves. The past couple of years they have underachieved, but you know they still have talent, but injuries, and Culter’s play made them less relevant. Look for Martz to correct the offensive issues with Cutler, and the defensive acquisitions to get them back to form.

49ers
Similiar to the Texans they show some resiliency and ability to compete or beat strong teams. The picked Warner 7 times and beat the Cardinals twice. They too underachieve. The Niner issue is QB. If they can land a QB like Sam Bradford (high wonderlic test), or Nate Davis already on their roster that can generate offense with Crabtree, the 49ers should easily win that division with the Cardinals possibly going down.

Cheifs/Browns
I have a feeling that maybe something is about to happen for these teams.
Thomas Jones should help bring some balance and Josh Cribbs give the Browns a spark from that 4 game winning streak.

Panthers
I think will be quietly making strides finishing 4-1 with Matt Moore, a good decision maker, can throw the ball to his receivers, just work on the running game because the Panthers actually had a better defense than we would have though and were already hampered with injuries.

If you noticed, all these teams finished with wins, all but one (Cheifs) finished with at least two straight wins

If a bear caps in the woods does anyone care?

Can’t stand them as a matter of fact I have been loveing the last couple of years that they played here. And the panthers are just stupid. Look JD had a bad year but the decission to cut him will haunt that team for a while. Don’t get me wrong in glad they are making stupid decissions.

Rule #1: Double tap.

by Ball Hawk on Mar 17, 2010 3:53 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

nice

with the Jets and Texans i agree completely. The Bears it all comes down to the health of the defense and Cutler rebounding, which I think will happen since they got his old cord. and Chester since Forte looked over weight and slow last year. The 49ers need to find their identity. Smith shines in the shotgun but they seemed reluctant to move to that type of offense last year. the Cheifs and Browns have to many questions at just about every position for me to give any kind of educated prediction. The Panthers looked good at the end of last year but have lost many players without adding to many so it’s kinda hard to say they’ll build off last year.

by gritzblitz on Mar 17, 2010 5:52 PM EDT up reply actions

You left out one team.

Falcons
They’re the best ever and they win everything. All their offseason moves are awesome, and Freddie Falcon doubles as Captain America by night. Their upcoming draft will be the best ever, as they will draft WEATHERSPOOOOON at pick #19 in R1.

You’re right, but I meant to talk about OTHER teams. We already know that our team should be dangerously good next year. Since this is the Falcoholic, didn’t feel the need to toot our own horn, but okay…look out for Atlanta too they had three straight wins to finish 9-7
