As it says...dissapointing as I'd rather see us pursuing a pass rusher.

No big deal

The headline says they’ll “scout top 5 CBs at NFL combine”, but the story just says that the team might take a CB at #19 – oh, and here’s Mike Mayock’s top 5 CB’s…

You’ve seen Mark Bradley’s story about why he doesn’t think the team will draft a CB first, right?

I see what you did there.

This is all a plot to make us think we’re going to draft CB, and then we’ll draft Tim Tebow instead! I see through it! I see through the schemes.

But seriously, I wouldn’t be against a DB, it’s just that all of them sans Joe Haden carry some sort of iffy-ness about them.

Weatherspoon is a safe, effective choice, and I don’t know enough about the DEs out there to talk about them, so I can’t really give an opinion there.

If we're going in that direction, I'd prefer Kyle Wilson

We’ve got our share of awesome athletes at the position, but Wilson is probably the best pure coverage corner in the draft besides Haden. I would think we’d trade down if we were getting him, though.

Now the thought of us drafting him at all scares me

Pretty tricksy headline there, D-Led.

Makes it sound like Comrade passed along secret info about the specific number of corners to be scouted AND NOT A CORNER MORE.

But no.

GRAHAM!!!

if we don’t pick up a DE in FA then we get this kid, if he’d had been on a better Mich team then this guy would be a top 10 pick!! If we pick up a DE in FA then you get Witherspoon, he brings depth with a potential to start and he just seems like a mike smith kind of guy don’t know why. When a comp. picks given?

settle down Scooter ...

The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss of compensatory free agents (maximum of four).

We lost four, then went out and got 1 or 2 (depending on how the formula shakes out).

Best case scenario, we’ll get a third rounder for Foxworth (more likely it’ll be a fourth rounder imo), fifth/sixth rounder for Boley, and maybe a 7th rounder for Grady (assuming the formula shakes out in our favor).

Methinks they are awarded more or less right before the draft.

Compensatory picks are awarded each year at the NFL annual meeting which is held at the end of March; typically, about three or four weeks before the draft.

Straight from Wikipedia, so you know it’s true.

Keith "a little cheese with your whine" Brooking.

I think we get something for him. Don’t get me wrong I love the guy we shoulda kept him but he was being a, you know.

Graham is a good one

He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is

SO far 8 different CBs have been "mocked" to atlanta in the 1st, but only 2 or 3 will be drafted in the 1st

Haden, Kyle Wilson, Devin McCourty, Amari Spievey, Perrish Cox, Donovan Warren, Patrick Robinson, and Kareem Jackson have all been mocked t(by pretty prominent sources, not just some guy with a blog) to be atlanta’s #19 pick

so atlanta had better scout ALL the CBs pretty well, since after Haden, its anybodys guess

I am an optimist, but my dream scenario still has Joe Haden coming to the Falcons at 19

Many of the 18 teams ahead of Atlanta have bigger needs at QB, O line, D line, and other positions. I am keeping my fingers crossed for runs on DT’s, OT’s and DE’s and a WR, LB, RB, and Safety or 2 going before no 19.

Brian WIlliams and Grimes are good, but the Falcons need another corner to deal with New Orleans passing attack.

As for pass rush – it is over rated. In the Super Bowl, NO had zero sacks, but won due to great secondary play.

He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is

Why we should draft CB Kareem Jackson Alabama Crimson Tide

1st. He is a great team player
2nd. He is a great prospect we need who can develop into a franchise corner
3rd. He is soild on most of his play reads
4th. He is a certified ball hawk who stays flying around the football
5th. He is a good tackler but I think he will become much better after being in a pro locker room
