Every week before the Falcons game, I'll be selecting one player to keep an especially close eye on. This week, it's quarterback Matt Ryan.
Nobody on the Falcons would enjoy a rebound game more than Matt Ryan.
After all, Ryan had one of his worst games of the season last week against the Buccaneers, stymied by the weather, a decent Tampa Bay defense and his own struggles. Ryan's been a trendy pick for MVP lately based on his stellar play, and that bump in the road was pretty much the only thing that could slow his roll.
Ryan will face a good secondary this week in the Panthers, but he's up to the task, assuming he gets some help from his receivers. The Falcons would love to see their franchise quarterback play well outside a dome environment, and Ice has to be itching to get back to being universally loved for never turning the ball over. I'm pretty sure we fans would like that, too.
With Michael Turner setting things up for him on the ground, expect at least 200 yards and a couple of touchdowns out of Ryan. In a game that may be surprisingly low-scoring, that may just be the key to victory. Watch Ice.
