I'm back with another installment of the 2010 Falcons opponents series history. This week, the Ravens.
This is a rather short series, which started in 1999, with the Ravens leading the series, 2-1. The first ever meeting was in the ATL, with the Ravens winning, 19-13, in what would become a train wreck of a season. I just remember Ray Buchanan getting torched in OT in that one, don't remember anything else about that game.
The 2002 game was also played in the ATL, with the Birds holding on, 20-17. This game was part of that amazing streak they were on. The Birds had a 20-3 lead, before the Ravens came back to within three, before their furious charge was stopped. Don't remember much about that one either, though I have it on tape, and have not seen it yet. The 2006 game was in Baltimore ( a place where the Birds still haven't won) The Birds played a great first half, but only led 7-0, then the second half came, and the bottom dropped out with Steve McNair leading the charge, and the Ravens D getting to Vick, and frustrating the hell out of me and them.
The second half of the 2006 season was a nightmare. It won't happen here this year, the team is better coached and managed, and with better players. I see another close one at the dome on Thursday, Falcons, 20-17. I would appreciate some comments, especially the first two games of the series.
Now, on to Bird Bowl 3! Next week, the Rams.
