Falcons Captain Of The Tailgate: Drinks Edition
Our most delicious sponsored post returns, and we're all better for it.
Captain Morgan is a staple of my liquor cabinet, and in honor of their sponsorship of both my buzz and this blog, we're talking drinks today. When you're tailgating, readying yourself for the game at home or out at the bar, what are you drinking? Is it a certain brand of beer, a Thermos of vodka or a Shirley Temple?
Let us know. Whatever it is, I hope it goes well with the "hobos" that ATLsince1972 makes.

I'm a cheap drunk
So Coors Light for me.
"You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?"- Dirty Harry
2 distinct differences for me
Over here where alcohol is forbidden, I drink gatoraid.
Back home, I drink Jack n Coke. Or Jack on the rocks. Or Bud Light Lime. Or Capn and coke. Or Capn Private Stock and Cherry Coke.
Dont cloud the issue with facts!
This is a tough one to field, but as the resident booze expert, here goes...
I usually go with rum (Captain or similar ilk) and Diet Dr Pepper during games. That being said, I have been known to dig into the beer as well for games. Keep in mind, I am a beer snob. A few of my faves to imbibe:
Southern Tier IPA
Troegs Mad Elf (How we do X-Mas in Harrisburg, PA baby!)
Troegs Troegenator
Rogue Chocolate Stout
Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale
Delirium Tremens
Miller Lite (For those marathon days)
I do have a self-built tap system in my fridge as well. For those weekends I go with (1/6 kegs):
Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA
Sly Fox Royal Weisse
Bell’s Octoberfest
Troegs Hop Back
Weyerbacher Quad
Southern Tier Phin and Matt’s
So yeah…I love the booze and football combos!

You're clearly an IPA fan
You’ve had Stone IPA before, I assume? My all-time favorite beer.

Stone makes a nice IPA.
Definitely LOVE hoppy brews. If you come across any beers that have Simcoe or Cascade hops in them, get one immediately. The aroma and citrus flavors are amazing.
The Cali breweries always love to hop it up!

Sweetwater in town uses a lot of cascade hops
They’re serving a double IPA called Hop-in something or other that is quite good. Also a cask ail of the same thing with more hops and peppercorns (only at the brewery at this point).

Cascade and Simcoe are the best!

btw
I accidentally posted some links for you further down, instead of in a reply. Anyway, I think you’ll dig ’em if you get the chance to indulge.
also, have you had the new 10.10.10 Vertical Epic by Stone?
Haven’t had it yet, just wondering if you’ve had the chance…
Yep! We have an awesome beer store in town.
They have an insane selection. I buy sixtels there all the time to have on tap at the house.

you in GA?
I remember about 10 years ago, they changed all the alcohol % laws allowing the shelves to be stocked with all kinds of new stuff from all over. I love what they’ve been doing. Last time I was home, I went to the 5 Seasons @ The Prado off 285 & Roswell Rd. (near 400). Probably the best beer I’ve had in the state. Maybe things have changed, but the place is still around I assume. Great place.
Gotta love Troegenator
Ya know, I have actually never had a bad Troegs anything.
If you get the chance to go to upstate NY (Albany area) try the Porter or Whiskey Barrel Aged Stout from Brown’s Brewery.
Home and Away
Home: Jack and Coke or Johnnie Walker and Coke
Away (Bar or Game): Bud Light. Coors Light. Quantity over quality. lol
Jack and coke or coors light or budweiser
Or a combination of the three that 9 times out of 10 has me liking right before bedtime lol

Whenever we are losing I break out the rubbing alcohol.
That always seems to calm me down.
Straight Jack for me.
None of that Gentleman Jack crap either. Straight, hot, and sipped, like it’s supposed to be.

Beer snob too, like the Duff Man...
but my favorite would be Ommegang Abbey Ale, but I’ll take Chimay reserve on tight funds. As far as for those losing days, I go with Bacardi and Cola, and more of the former than the latter for sure.
Ommegang is delicious
Good choice.

Ugh beer.
Pisswasser. Go hard (liquor) or go home. The only beer worthy of my taste buds is Cotton Wood Pumpkin Spice Ale.

Sweetwater 420
And occasionally Sweetwater IPA
or terribly overpriced micro imports
Seriously ya’ll, with the awful exchange rate in the expensive Tokyo area, I’m paying 3-4x for decent beer. I might be looking at $15 for a good 22 oz. of imported west coast American IPA. That’s another reason the bank is broke. Thank goodness for the Yokohama Brewery and Thrash Zone.
Duff Man, my new friend
Have you had any of that Norwegian stuff that’s been coming out?
you’ll appreciate them, I assure you…

haha, no worries here
I won’t order that no matter what country I’m in!
However, I did have some stuff brewed by Aussies in SIngapore. Some hostel/bar in Little India, oddly enough. Can’t quite remember. Good times.
We make some good beer
But we also make some shockers. Like Victoria Bitter is just the worst, I can’t drink that stuff.

at least it's not Korea
I don’t live there, but I’ve been a number of times. Cass & Hite might beat the worst of the worst. Really. Worse than a Utah Busch Light.
;)
Too kind.

i love falcons, beer, and this website
that being said,
this kind of corporate sponsorship continues to make this website gay.
let’s talk about mixed drinks instead of the falcons.
with all the love in my heart,

Not my choice
But sponsorship pays the bills. Otherwise, this site might not even exist.
