Ask Bucs Nation - Again!
The last time our teams met it was a close affair at the end and a good game. You guys are firmly in possession of the division lead now, and we're in pursuit of a wild card to get into the playoffs. Sunday's game is important for both teams, and hopefully it'll be a good game.
Of course, making it even more interesting (at least for us) is the fact that the Bucs will be wearing their throwback creamsicle uniforms, and enshrining John McKay into the RIng of Honor - the first Bucs head coach and the father of former Bucs GM and current Falcons President Rich McKay.
Anyway, you guys know the drill. Ask us questions about the Bucs, and please Rec this post so it stays at the top until the game.

Why didn't they keep the old uniforms?
There was just something so manly and frightening about them……..
Actually, I was wondering about the type of season McCoy has been having. He seemed like a solid number 3 pick in the first round and I’ve heard bits and pieces of what he’s accomplished this season, but could you expound a little more on what he’s done so far and what his potential looks like in the future?
Also, how do the fans feel about the head coach? Was there any sort of expectation that things would be going this well in what most people assumed was a rebuilding year for the Bucs? Does this sort of cement him as the head coach for the foreseeable (in the NFL at any rate) future?
From what I’ve read, I kinda picked up the feeling that this year was just going to be a year that things improved, but nobody was really expecting you guys to have a winning season, let alone be in the hunt for a play-off spot.
Frightening, yes... manly? If you say so.
I like the throwback jerseys. But once a year is enough. Something about the color orange just makes me want to vomit.
McCoy has suddenly shown up. He pulled a fair amount of double teams early this season and was basically a non-entity. Hard to blame him specifically as he’s a just a rookie and his fellow D-Linemen weren’t helping him out much. He was getting 0 sacks and helping contribute to the worst run-defense in the league (more or less). Two weeks ago in San Fran he got two half-sacks, and then yesterday he got 2 real sacks. Really seems as if he’s starting to catch up to the NFL. Being a 1st round DT he gets compared to Sapp a lot and while you may be scoffing at such a comparison (rightfully so) it IS true that Sapp only had 3 sacks his rookie year. I’m not holding my breath on McCoy becoming a first-ballot-shoe-in for Canton, but the potential is certainly there. It could very well turn out that Suh had the explosiveness to be felt right away in this league but will peter out into obscurity while McCoy takes the opposite route.
As for Raheem, barring a monumental meltdown he’s earned another year at the helm methinks. 3-13 to 7-4. What more can you say? Whatever he’s doing it’s obviously working on some level. I don’t know anyone that thought we’d be doing this well. But as for cementing his place as the head coach of Tampa for years to come….? I don’t think we’re there yet. But if you guys would kindly lose to us and then beat the Saints, Raheem might be looking at Coach of the Year.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
you like the jerseys but they make you vomit
that almost sounds like you like to vomit, which doesnt’ sound right.
I think your team goes 10-6
5-11/4-12 goes to 11-5
3-13 tends to lead to 10-6 in the NFC South. I predict the Panthers to go 10-6 in 2011. Ask the 2006 NO Saints.
I agree the jury is still out of Raheem

I only understood the first part of what you said.
But you’re right, I don’t have the fear of vomitting that most people do. If my body’s telling me to purge, then purge I will. That is why for nostalgic reasons I will occasionally suffer to wear l’orange.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
the second part seemed pretty self explanatory to me
it explains what happens to teams (in last place) when they finish at one record and what their next season record will likely be.

Hah, the creamsicles are lovely
McCoy’s had a typical rookie season. He started off slow, where you could see glimpses of his skills but he got pushed around plenty as well and wasn’t consistently disruptive.
After the Saints game, where Chris Ivory ran all over us, he came out to the media and said that he was going to play more aggressively, whereas before he was more concerned with being in his gaps. Since then he’s gotten better every week. Against San Francisco he had would could be called a breakout game, with 2 half sacks and getting penetration the entire game. He showed up again this week, as he had 2 sacks and was in the backfield the entire game. Hopefully he can keep this up.
No one expected this year to go as well as it has, except for the most optimistic fans. I think it’s safe to say that Raheem is going to be here next year, unless the team collapses down the stretch. I think we’re way ahead of schedule.
That said, a lot of fans really didn’t like Raheem, who thought he was a terrible coach and a cheap hire by the Glazers. Going 3-13 created a lot of bad feelings. But I think those people are slowly turning around.
I love them
whenever i play as or against the bucs on madden i always use them, i reckon they look classic and way more interesting than some of the current ones. never liked that pirate though…

We're still bringing that up?
Ah well, shows it served its purpose at least.
The point of that comment was to instill some confidence in the team and take the focus away from the players and put it on the head coach, to take away some of the external pressure. Worked like a charm.
Besides, he qualified it with “We have the fewest losses, so we’re the best team” at the time, and once we didn’t have the fewest losses he said that we weren’t the best team anymore.
I liked the statement
it was bold and the record told the tale.
As of now though… Atlanta Falcons are the best team in the NFC – could be a big statement game for you guys this week.
know what you believe in and why you believe in it
You are the best team in the NFC
and we were a communication error and a bad play call away from beating you. We can go toe to toe with any team in this league. Beating them is another question though.
...the Seminole guy from the other site.
The Bucs still lack depth and consistency at a lot of positions
The Falcons also lack depth but have less glaring weaknesses and are quickly defining themselves a consistent football team.
I hate to see it, but it looks like the Bucs are well on their way and will be very good sooner rather than later.
What is the key to the Saints success? Depth. If the Falcons were facing that same slate of injuries as the Saints this season the Falcons would be looking at 9-7. As long as the Falcons remain healthy I do believe they are the best team in the NFC and if they make the Superbowl we will find out if the are the best team in the NFL.
I believe that the Bucs can run toe and toe with any team in the NFL… sometimes. You just cannot expect them to do that week in and week out (yet)
know what you believe in and why you believe in it
I'd agree with that
But I’ve been impressed with how we’ve handled injuries this year. None of them seem to have fazed people. WHen Tanard Jackson got suspended, Cody Grimm stepped up and played well. When Faine went down last year we saw a huge dropoff, this time the O-line didn’t miss a beat. Same with Trueblood’s injury.
Still, we lack depth at a lot of positions certainly.
My understanding is that the Bucs play better on the road than at home...
Is that really true or not? And if it is, do you think it’s actually not a positive thing to be at home this week?
And, can you expound on just who got injured for you Sunday?
Thanx and good luck guys!!
Georgia Native, Indiana Resident, and Falcon Loving S.O.B.
Yeah, thats me.
Both our blowout losses came at home
But I doubt it’s anything more than variance over a small sample. Though undoubtedly the largely empty stadium doesn’t help. But yes, I do see it as a positive for Sunday – if only because you guys won’t be at home, which should make a sizeable difference.
As for the injuries, they were to starting FS Cody Grimm and starting RG Davin Joseph. Davin Joseph has been a really good guard for us in the past, though I think he hasn’t been playing up to his standards this season. Still, that’s a sizeable blow, especially because we’re weak at LG already. As for Grimm, he’s a rookie 7th rounder who stepped in after week 2 when Tanard Jackson got suspended for the year. He had been playing really well for us and was probably the most reliable tackler on the team. Losing him is probably the biggest blow, if only because we’ll likely see the dreadful Sabby Piscitelli return to the starting lineup – which has us all scared to death.

People think that because we are undefeated at home, we are bad on the road
I’ve heard it alot too. People say we can only win at home. We are 3-2 on the road which yeah isn’t 5-0 but is still above .500 so it will make a difference but not too much of a sizeable one

People didn't really take our road record into account when we came up to see you guys, either
We were undefeated on the road until we came to Atlanta, and that was a super-close game even with you guys having so much strength at home. Both of our road losses were close games, if you look at the Ravens game a certain way.
I think all the rookies just don’t know they’re not supposed to play well on the road, and honestly I’m OK with that. lol
It’s not that we play badly at home, either. The two home blowouts were fairly early in the season, against VERY good teams, before the young players started to really gel together the way they have the last several weeks. They mature in leaps and bounds nearly every game. It seemed like the offense regressed a bit last weekend, but I think that was more about the Ravens D than being entirely on the Bucs, barring some coaching decisions that could have turned things around.
No Sabby
thank god. They released him on Tuesday, and all of Tampa sighed in relief.
What was wrong with this guy?
Wasn’t there ever a time he was good? I thought he was a pick machine like R Barber.
He had had a few splash plays in the past...
…but they were mostly caused by other guys deflecting the ball and he just happened to be in the right play at the right time, if my memory serves… Todd Heap’s TD last week is a great example of what Sabby brings to the field…
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
It's been true so far,
which is strange for such a young and developing team. Going back to last season, the Bucs won 5 consecutive road games until the loss in Atlanta, which tied the team record.
S Cody Grimm is out with a broken fibula after getting rolled up yesterday, and is a huge loss to be sure. He was playing at a very high level and was as sure a tackler as anyone on the defense. His loss means the Bucs will have to insert Sabby Piscitelli (facepalm) or Corey Lynch, or shift Ronde Barber to safety and put EJ Biggers/Myron Lewis at cornerback. Davin Joseph has been one of the few constants on the offensive line this season and has performed steadily. Fortunately, the Bucs’ reserve lineman are battle-tested due to previous injuries along the offensive line.

How confident are you about a playoff berth at this point?
Any way this season ends, it will have been a tremendous one for the Bucs, IMO. But are feeling a playoff berth? I’ve got you finishing 10-6 and just missing out because of the stupid NFC West.

I'm fairly confident we can nab wildcard
But it’s going to be really close. We’re going to have to beat out some good teams. Luckily most of these teams have games remaining against eachother, and we have 3 games against beatable opponents (Seahawks, Redskins, Lions) that can get us to 10-6. At 10-6 we’ll be in the mix and if the other 7-4 teams stumble a little down the stretch we’ll be in. I think if we can either beat you guys this weekend or the Saints in the final week we’re definitely in, but we’re (deservedly) underdogs in both contests.
I think we can get to 10-6,
but if we do, there’s a good chance we’ll be locked up with Green Bay and/or New York with the same conference records…….thus putting the tiebreaker at strength of victory. That’ll kill us given the wins on our schedule (at least so far), so I’m a little nervous about the prospects of a wild card right now. Need to follow the Al Davis mantra and just win, baby.
Cannons... fire them.
Bucs Nation - SBNation's home for discussion of all things regarding the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
I think the tiebreaker, after head to head of course, is..
this for wildcard tiebreaker-
1. Head-to-Head
2. Conference Record
3. Common Games (minimum of four) <—————
4. Strength of Victory
5. Strength of Schedule
6. Combined Ranking Among Conference Teams (points scored and points allowed)
7. Combined Ranking Among All Teams (points scored and points allowed)
8. Net Points (conference games)
9. Net Points (all games)
10. Net Touchdowns (all games)
11. Coin Toss
Usually the common games win % settles it. Rarely do they get to strength of victory. But even at that, common games probably screws you guys too. Looks like you better hope to finish with a better record than the saints, giants and packers. Hard but possible.

If the Bucs miss the playoffs
it wouldn’t because of the NFC West. It will be either the Bears hanging on or the Eagles/Giants making it at 11-5 or a tiebreaker over the Bucs

It has accelerated the expectations
Going into the season no one expected Freeman to play as well as he has and the team to win as many games as it has. The expectations for Freeman into last season were very low – he was not a popular draft pick. Now I don’t think there’s anyone who follows the team who doubts that Freeman will be a good franchise quarterback for a long time.
The consequence of this success is that the expectations get raised, a lot. Before the season, most people expected a 6-10 season or something similar. Now, the playoffs are within reach and the expectations for next season are probably for the team to make the playoffs and win or at least be competitive in some playoff games.
Basically, going into this year I expected us to be 2 more years away from contending
And now, we’re already contending – albeit with an easy schedule and solid but not great play.
Lately our defensive line has been holding its ground in the running game and closing down interior running lanes,
and developing a pretty solid pass rush. The Bucs have accumulated 12 sacks in the previous 3 games, including 4 against a very solid Baltimore offensive line. Gerald McCoy is starting to live up to his high draft status.

Three questions
1) Who will be replacing Grimm and Joseph after their injuries??
2) What do you think will be the Bucs final record??
3) Is Mike Williams’ DUI going to affect his playing status or no?
( I have no idea if he played this past week or not, ESPN shows like one play from the Bucs game, one play from the Falcons game, and then like 8 plays from the fricken Vikings game which has NO importance whatsoever)

by TurnerTheBurner on Nov 29, 2010 8:14 PM EST reply actions
Three answers
1) Joseph will be replaced by Zuttah. We have no depth at guard at all, so that’s pretty bad. We’re not sure yet who will replace Grimm, though it’s likely to be Piscitelli. If it’s Piscitelli, we’re doomed. If any one player was responsible for the defensive collapse last year, it was Piscitelli. He was that bad. There’s also a chance Corey Lynch of Bengals Hard KNocks fame takes it, but it doesn’t seem likely.
2) I’m going with 10-6
3) Nope. He’s played every game this season. The reason he hasn’t been suspended by the team is that he blew under the legal limit on a breathalyzer. The DUI case won’t go forward until a urine test comes back in a couple weeks.
One big play by Todd Heap ultimately doomed us yesterday.....
….and that happened very shortly after Piscitelli entered the game and there was a “miscommunication” that led to busted coverage. When Sabby was in last year, the Bucs allowed big plays regularly. This year? Not nearly as much.
I see a bad correlation here. If Sabby starts, I’d go right after him, if I were Atlanta. Fortunately, I think Raheem will have a short leash for him if things don’t go well early.
Cannons... fire them.

The 2010 Bucs remind me of someone
It’s almost the same as Atlanta in 2008. It looks like the Bucs are getting the right pieces in the right spots and seem to almost have it down. I think that if you guys can get a WR to step up to the next level then you might have something going next year.
I think the biggest key will be some sort of continuity and I think that keeping your head coach is crucial to this.
What do you guys see as the biggest missing link to what you have already?
Prior to the past two games I would've said run defense and pass rush
But both of those seem to have been fixed, we’ll see if they stick.
Next up is probably a consistent running game, better pass blocking, and the continued development of Freeman and the wide receivers, and their chemistry together.
I wouldn't quite go there
Our season seemed more magical. We beat quality teams.
New Orleans for the first time in three season. Carolina at home for first time since 2004. The Bears game was impressive and we were resilient. The Chargers on the road before the became hot. Stifling the good Vikings team on the road. Beating a tough Bucs team in OT in a close one. Withstanding a dangerous 2-13 Rams team at home to advoid an upset when Ryan had 3 INTs.
by brotherbrown on Nov 30, 2010 12:53 AM EST up reply actions
Maybe not the wins
But the personnel are getting there.
Keep in mind that we already had some huge play-makers in 08 including Abraham and Turner. The Bucs don’t quite have that type of rushing attack (although more than I think Sander gives them credit for, they are 13th in the league rushing) and we also still had Brooking providing a solid leadership and play.
Given the youth of the Bucs, it would be hard to match the guys we had at that time, but if McCoy and some of these other young guys continue to contribute, we may be looking at TB as the most difficult division team to play.
Still though, it will come down to whether those guys step up and win games or not in the next few seasons.

Rule #1: Double tap.
by Ball Hawk on Nov 29, 2010 11:53 PM EST via mobile reply actions
We're likely to grab a DE in the first round
That’s probably the biggest need and the draft class is pretty deep with DEs. If there are no viable DEs I can see them simply going with Best Player Available – with a focus on defense. Either a linebacker or safety would help.
At some point I’d expect them to pick up some O-line help as well – someone who projects as a Right Tackle or a Guard.
A few questions
1. How has Freeman commited to less mistakes since last year?
2. What will happen to C.Willaims? I never liked the dude.
A few answers
1. Well, he understands the offense a lot better than he did last year. This year he went through the entire offseason as the clear #1 QB, and he worked his butt off starting in January. Last year he was the 3rd or 4th QB on the depth chart in the offseason, didn’t get a lot of reps and the offense wasn’t built around him. Obviously that hurt him. Besides that he’s also improves his mechanics, stepping into his throws more and simply being more accurate with throws. There’s only been one pick that was caused by a misfire, and that happened early in the year when he still had an injured thumb which was throwing off his accuracy.
2. I’m not sure. I think the team would like him to stay as a 3rd-down back, but he may be too expensive for that to happen. His teammates and the fans love the guy, though.
Caddy is valuable enough
as 3rd down back, and the mentoring role for Blount that they’ll keep him around based on that. Especially since that role is opening him up to break big again on other downs, now that people are getting caught thinking he’s the pass protection back.
It’s not as if he is actually ‘busted’ like some people were saying at the beginning of the year. Early season was rough, but the O-line has stiffened up, and Blount’s presence has opened up big holes for Caddy, too.
Yep
I’m just curious to see what they’ll do with him next year. He won’t be under contract then, and I don’t know if they can come to a reasonable agreement.
I think
they like him enough, and he’s valuable enough to get another year, at the very least. They’ll want to keep him around, if only to continue mentoring Blount, who looks like the future. The fact that he’s producing again as the season goes on, only sweetens that deal.
the story on Sabby that was in the Trib today
makes me even more inclined to believe that they’ll keep him around. Did you see it? If they’re willing to keep paying Sabby of all players for most of the season, out of a wish to treat him fairly, there’s no way they’re going to treat Caddy any less respectfully. He’s class with a capital C, and everyone knows it.
It’s really nice to hear when your team does stuff that makes you think they’re treating the players like that, even if it was for a player that drove everyone nuts. lol
So they'll pay him even though he's with another team now?
He’s with the Browns now, right?
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
He'll join Jake Delhomme
Also being paid by a second team.
Life must be good for them.

I liked Grimm in preseason
and it sucks that he’s out, but do you think Roddy will have a blinder now that the safety help might be a little worse?
And also, last time we played i believe Trueblood and Faines (Faine? Fines? your centre…) were out, are they healthy now or are their replacements solid?

Tough to say what will happen with Grimm out
But it’s definitely a weakness you should go after. Don’t know if it’d help Roddy that much, I think Talib did a decent job of stopping him last time we met.
Faine is back and playing. Trueblood has been active the past games but hasn’t played. It seems that James Lee has taken over his starting spot. Which is probably an upgrade, Trueblood was always a liability in pass protection. James Lee isn’t a world-beater or anything, but he’s slightly better than Trueblood.
While Joesph hasn't been great this season
He is better than both Zuttah and rookie Ted Larsen. Now we are forced to play Zuttah out of position next to a mediocre tackle and still start Ted Larsen. Zuttah is going to be exposed this game. Donald Penn is a very underrated tackle and does a tremendous job of mitigating any harm Larsen or Zuttah did. James Lee, probably not.
...the Seminole guy from the other site.
What kind of preparations has the bucs made
Since the last game we fought? I heard that piscetelli was released? also if i heard was true what do you fear the most, our run game or our passing game?
I fear your passing game more than your run game
I think we did a good job of stopping the run last time we faced, but we had a hard time stopping Gonzalez.
As for preparations, I’m not sure. We’ve started to run more ‘wildcat’ with Josh Johnson at QB, so that’s something you’ll see. Cody Grimm and Davin Joseph going on IR are big losses that’ll have an impact this Sunday.
Really no major adjustments have been made on the DL.
A little more stunting, but folks are also starting to single block McCoy, which he has benefited. Teams are much more eager to get to the second level thinking they can hit a home-run if they do. McCoy is playing well, Crowder played good against Baltimore and they also have played Adam Hayward more at OLB which is a much better option against the run. Against the pass, you will them stick with Black. Black also may be the better option against Turner, who has more break away speed than a banged up Gore or Ray Rice.
...the Seminole guy from the other site.
I read an article about
Mike Williams having some off the field issues lately other then the D.U.I. I can’t remember specific details about the article but it talked about at least one other incident. He is obviously having a great year and has made an impact immediately. Just wondering what you guys think about his future (i.e. is this going to become an issue/distraction).
"Pressure is what you feel when you're not prepared." Matt Bryant
I think the DUI is overblown
He blew under the legal limit and a private test came back negative for any illicit substances.
As for off-the-field issues, he had a few in college. He missed a year because he cheated on a test, and most of last year because he quit on his team. The latter incident is a bit hazy, but from what we can piece together he got in a car accident (not his fault) past curfew, and would be suspended for that by the team. The coach then asked the team if they wanted Mike Williams to stay, which they did, but then the coach couldn’t get a hold of Mike Williams and assumed he had quit. Or at least, that’s one version. The other version is that he quit when he heard he’d be suspended again.
Anyway, none of that has resurfaced in his professional career – at least not so far. And the Bucs were very thorough in their background research on Mike Williams before the draft.
The only other issue came with the "D.U.I. that wasn't".
He was out at 2:30am the night before a team-meeting/walkthrough and flying to SanFran. THAT’S what the team diciplined him for, because he had a legal alcohol level, and a clean drug-test.
His other issues came in college (accusations of cheating, curfew violation, a suspension, quitting the team over the whole thing), and were the reason he moved down the draft boards, haven’t seen anything mentioned about other problems since he came into Tampa.
Some factoids that have come out since the arrest, about the things leading up to it:
Bucs run all-day, full-contact, practices on Thursdays.
He was out at a high-class sportsbar Thursday night with a relative who’d come into town for a few days, most likely socializing and watching the Thursday night game. He knew he was getting up early on Friday for meetings, and rushed the drive home.
He got popped for speeding, then the officer decided he looked intoxicated and took him in to test, because Tampa PD doesn’t carry breathalizers in their patrol cars.
He blew well under the legal limit once he got to the Jail, then volunteered to submit a urine sample for testing to the cops, because he knew he was clean.
Then after he bailed out he went to the Bucs and asked for help on where to go to set up an independent test to give to them to prove he wasn’t intoxicated, so it wouldn’t be hanging over everyone’s head for the SanFran game, and several weeks afterward.
Basically, it seems like he got popped for speeding, was exausted after a long day, and the officer had no way to determine if it was alcohol, drugs, or exaustion without taking him in to test. It’s par for the course in Tampa, because of budget issues. The D.U.I. will be dropped as soon as the official test comes back, and he’s probably going to have to pay a speeding ticket, and take a safe-driver course at some point in the next year. That’s it.
All that being said, I honestly don’t think it’s going to be an issue. He’s committed to the team, productive, and even with all the distraction of the arrest he was able to pull out a stellar game in SanFran, and the team rallied around him rather than letting it become a distraction to them. The kid made a couple mistakes, but none of them were gigantic. If he hadn’t been popped for speeding, no one would have ever said a word about him going out to watch the game with a relative, instead of staying home. Pro players don’t have a curfew, as long as they make it to practice the next morning.

Meh.
We have enough trouble spreading it around to the WR we have. Spurlock has made some phenomenal plays this year, but then drops the ball other times. I’m not sure it’s enough to bench him. Benn continues to develop slowly and I think Olson tries to keep getting him the ball. Stroughter has been disappointing, but still has some abilities.
At most, he’s a ST guy to replace Sabby.

This is from a beat-writers twitter account (Stephen Holder)
Another tidbit learned today at #Bucs practice: WR Dez Briscoe, fresh up from practice squad, is turning lots of heads and could play vs ATL

Who are you guys most worried about. Ryan? White? or Turner?

Turner.
Ability to wear our defense down and kill us on 3rd downs again.
...the Seminole guy from the other site.
yeah I figured Turner
Just because I know that your run D is shaky.

The last time we met, your special teams was great emberrasing us on tv, by scoring a dropped ball
How will they embarrass us again?
I have no idea
Because our special teams has been pretty poor outside of that game. The coverage units are pretty decent but not great, and returns have been terrible.
Returns have been average, not terrible.
Just opposed to last year. You were right about Clifton Smith’s abilities, though I’m still more content with an actual position player.
...the Seminole guy from the other site.
You're right
Recent games clouded my mind, where it seemed like it was a victory to have a return get to the 20.
As for Clifton Smith – the fact that he hasn’t made an impact somewhere may contradict that, or it may be a sign that his injury issues were worse than known.
Be of good cheer. The Falcons's special teams have exposed themselves a couple times this year, too.
This should be a good game. The Bucs d-line and Josh Freeman are stout challenges for the Birds.
I’m really kinda hoping Raheem Morris supplies some bulletin board material again.
How many more days, Lord, must I walk through the wilderness?
GO FALCONS!!
I just saw that for the 6th time in 5 seasons
Dick Stockton will do our Tampa game.
Which means you-know-who will be joining us for dinner!!!
i know he wasn't great but
was he really that bad???

judging by the games for week 14
They might do our Carolina game too, but I’m not totally sure at this point.
Dick Stockton calls a lot of NFC South Matchups

I enjoyed the Max Freeman/Josh Hall mix-ups in the Arizona game.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
I love Billick as the color guy
He is a really smart analyst and was a good coach. Not sure why some people hate on him. Plus, Mike Smith mirrors how Billick ran the Ravens and it seems to working so far for Smitty

i feel some people on this blog are overcritical of some announcers
I wonder if it’s to be apart of the group.
They aren’t perfect, but seriously how much better of a job could we do if we were in their shoes?
I like Billick more than Mora
But he’s still pretty bad. Mora and Billick both get a lot of names wrong, which is just sloppy, but they don’t bring a lot to the table in terms of analysis.
I don’t mind most color guys but I can’t stand those guys.
in case you didn't notice
All announcers gets names wrong.
Even Al Michaels rarely makes a mistake like referring to the Falcons as a 7-3 team two weeks ago.
We really have to look beyond the wrong name calling to call them bad, when the grading curve should be adjusted for that.

Of course they all do it
But Billick and Mora are a lot worse than the usual guys.
And it’s more than just the wrong names. It’s bad analysis, and their style just doesn’t suit me.
hmm
I don’t know, I think there is a hell of a lot worse than Billick.
Mora can be annoying with his silly rants.
Mora seems to think of himself as a coach still
He’s always talking about what a coach should or shouldn’t do, and he doesn’t seem too good at knowing what a coach should do either.
A large part of it is simply personal preference, though. What works for me doesn’t work for other people and vice versa.
Thanks
your team and the division is going to be scary.
As long as our team improves, I’m going to love the NFC South!
Watch out for Carolina next year.
