Half Season Report : Dunta Robinson

With lots of time yesterday with no falcons game. I dug deeper through the NFL Game books and the tape, to grade the Pass Defense especially CB's. The first post is on the Falcons 57 M$ star CB Dunta Robinson. As Falcons fans we have lot of questions on how bad is Dunta Robinson. I tried to put Mike Smith's hat to grade Dunta Robinson. No Stats or perceptions just raw numbers and game situations.

Read on and make your own conclusions on how Good or bad Dunta is.

Dunta made two poor plays which skew these stats. The 58 yard Touch Down to Mike Williams in Bucs game and the 34 Yard PI call in the 49ers game. If you remove 92 yards because of those two plays his stats look like this

Good:

1.       Redzone Coverage: Yet to give a TD in Red Zone. This is good considering that he usually covers the top Receiver of the opposing team.

2.       YAC: The total YAC is pretty low even after including the long touchdown pass to Mike Williams.

3.       Gave up only 1 TD out of 16 receiving TD's Falcons gave up this year.

4.       Total yards:  Approximately 1/10 of the total Team yards. This is crazy good because he lined up against top receivers of opposing teams.

Average:

1.       % Completions:  57.14% completion against mostly top receivers is not bad. It's still lower than the 67.3% Falcons defense allowed as whole. This has to be better if the 57M $ has to be justified.

Bad:

1.       No Interceptions.

2.       Game Changing Negative Plays (34 yard PI call against 49ers and 58 Yard Touchdown against Bucs).

3.       3 penalties which is highest among the falcons CB. This reminds me of the Chris Houston.

Over All Grade: B
