Falcons Captain Of The Tailgate: Music Edition
Sponsored posts pay the bills around here, and so we move forward on another one.
Over the last two weeks, we've established the grub and brews that everyone likes to have at their game day tailgates/sitting on the couch parties. This week, we're talking what music you use to get amped before the game. Perhaps you like a little metal, a lot of hip hop or a little Vivaldi. We don't judge.

All metal, all the time.
Until I snag my hands on Karabiner’s 1984 DVD audio rendition of Winter, Allegro from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Mutter’s violin solo makes me weep every time.

Held for 5 years as a prisoner of war at GT between '98 and '03.
Mudhoney, Scratchacid, Big Black, Melvins
Brahms and Chopin don’t keep pace with my Falcons heart rate, though I’ve definitely spun out to other dimensions with Rachmaninoff.
you listen to this music to get amped before the games
that kick off waaayy past midnight in Japan? ;)
I wonder what your Monday looks like after the games
Atlanta Falcons fan in Moscow, Russia
I know what it feels like
I went to work an hour after the Baltimore game ended (like 9 am), and I had that crazy look – unshaved, wild eyes that looked tired but energized at the same time

Rock out the classics
The good ol’ Falcons fight song

Lately, I've been looking for highlight videos of the Falcons on youtube to see what music they use.
I found this song:

It’s really neat.
Usually I’ll listen to things like AC/DC, Motley Crue, the old rock stuff that gets your blood pumping faster than anything short of 130 mph on a honda cbr1000rr.

I'm usually not that big a fan of rap music
but it’s kinda hard not to grin and bob your head to that
Sevendust
“Falcons On Top” by Sevendust. Always gets me pumped for the Falcons. Randomly found it a few days ago.
Yeah. That's actually a cover of the "Falcons on Top" done by someone affiliated with the team.
I have no idea why Sevendust decided they wanted to do a cover of it (an agreement with the team, obviously) but it’s really awesome! They debuted it at the 49ers game. It was really, really cool to see.

That'd make you a Mastodon fan, then, wouldn't it?

The drummer is not human.
He is from Roddy Whites planet only from a musical village of white burley aliens.

rec'd for Mastodon! hadnt really heard of 'em till I saw 'em in concert with Slipknot a couple of years back. A fan now...
all metal all of the time, though my choices may be more lame.. mudvayne, slipknot, disturbed, korn, breaking benjamin, sevendust, ra, five finger death punch etc… gets the blood flowing…
also, the nfl films soundtrack music… love it, and a lot of it sounds like it came from old school Godzilla movies…

Mastodon as well as
Baroness, High on Fire, Black Tusk, Zoroaster, etc.
WREK 91.1 & ALBUM 88.5
Be thankful, Atlanta, that’s some of the best indie radio East of Austin & South of NY. No joke.
LINKIN PARK
Huge fan, maybe listen to Numb/Encore or Bleed it Out.
Funny, or sadly-
no music for me before the game.
1 of 2 Falcons fans in Los Angeles? The Billionth Lakers fan in Los Angeles? Either way, I'm happy.
Every Time I Die, Foo Fighters, Say Anything, Immortal Technique, Iggy and the Stooges
Anything to get me riled.
Mastodon, Baroness, System of a Down, Motorhead, and even Clutch
every now and then. Anything that just makes you wanna jump up and hit somebody
Neil Diamond, Boy George and Wham.

Almost perfect.
Awesome mix, and you almost earned one of my highly coveted “recs”, but….. you listed Boy George , which implies the singer’s highly derivative solo work, and not the pure, adrenaline laced, macho-musical experience of Culture Club, which, most 80s euro-pop androgynous supergroup experts feel, is way more pro-football tailgate pre-game party appropriate. I am guessing this was done purposely on your part, dear Ball Hawk, as you wisely listed the testosterone-heavy works of Wham! (although, it must be pointed out, you lost a little street cred with me, and I’m sure most on this site, by erroneously omitting the “!” at the end of the super-duo’s name (Wham! not Wham -I’m sure you can easily see the importance of the error when seeing the two variations, correct and incorrect, side by side. A significant loss of “Zazz!” occurs when the incomplete title of the Grammy award winning super-duo’s act is utilized. A common, but ultimately, as stated before, street cred losing mistake), and not the more R&B inspired, soulful, but, ultimately, slightly less NFL pre-game tailgate pump-up worthy, results of George Michaels solo work.
so close my friend…..
