Falcons Sprint Game Ball of the Week: Roddy White

Photo

Spring has decreed that we must giveth out a game ball for most excellent performanceth, and verily we gave it to Roddy White. All hail Roddy White!

You'd be hard-pressed to find a more dominant performance, and I include Titans hero Kenny Britt in that assessment. Roddy regularly beat Leon Hall and double teams on Sunday en route to 11 catches, 201 yards and two touchdowns. He made big catches in the first quarter (46 yard strike from Matt Ryan), the second quarter (43 yard touchdown bomb), and fourth quarter (11 yard touchdown catch). The third quarter was miserable and we're not going to talk about it.

In the process, White gained a growing national audience for his excellent play. At this point, he's a top five wide receiver in the NFL and well on his way to smashing every significant wide receiver record the Atlanta Falcons can offer up. To put it plainly, he's dominating.

That's why Roddy gets the Sprint Game Ball of the Week.

A tip of the cap to Roddy

Dude’s the best in the NFL right now, no doubt about it.

I’m trying to think of someone else who even comes close. The best I can come up with is Matt Ryan, for being smart enough to keep throwing the ball to Roddy. Maybe someone on the offensive line for letting Matt Ryan stay on his feet in order to throw the ball to Roddy.

Fun fact for you all:

Roddy White leads the league in third down receptions, yards, and 3rd down receptions for first downs.

Yeah. Is he elite yet?

I think

leading the league in 3rd down receptions (including those for 1st down) is clearly the best stat he can be proud of. he has become the #1 option for Ryan in those situations.

and even more importantly, because he’s been drawing double coverage (if not triple) lately, other receivers are having better days too. Gonzalez and Finneran were the ones making crucial catches in the last game, at the time defense expected a throw to White.

With they way we are using him

we all forget about him like Joe Zelenka

Did our offense

Finally return to it’s “explosive” form?

Or did the cincy d just play that bad?

I only saw highlights of roddy, and finn’s td and one run play where turner made menflash back to ‘08. All promising signs but I never get to see 1:00 pm games so I didn’t know if we were really that good or just had a few highlight reel plays…

combo of both

ive replayed turner’s 30+ yd run about 34053879 times it just tickles me pink. if that guy in the third level hadnt tripped him up that would have went to the endzone. he resembled the juggernaut or something for that one play. and roddy was playing like the season was on the line (if only all the cowboys could do that)

explosive form-YES

Almost evryone was making plays. That is how our offense should run. Didn’t matter whose number got called they made the play- except snelling, he did not look good at all, but only carried it a few times I think.Turner, Roddy, Ryan, Even Gonzo, though they didn’t call his number much – he did drop a third down pass that he normally catches 99 out of a 100 times, but made a couple other great catches too.Even finneran and Johnson were making plays.
Yeah, I would say that our offense FINALLY returned to it’s explosive form, which is the best kind of form to be in,lol. That IS our offensive NORM, if everybody makes the plays when their number is called upon, we got a lot of talented guys that can make things happen, and when 4 or 5 out of the 7 or 8 we have are clicking, it’s a good day!!

I'm glad Roddy is so good

But I wish the other receiver would breakout too.

I wish

I could at least see the highlights. Watched espn the other day and they didnt show the highlights of the game at all. Might have been cut out for time because of where I am but I dont know. Kinda sucks

Dont cloud the issue with facts!

Roddy is turning into Jerry Rice right before our eyes

I mean, he’s runs good routes, is always open, catches everything, cannot be stopped, is usually gonna get his EVERY game- and all of this with the defenses #1 corner AND usually a safety rolled over the top. AND without being the fastest guy on the field! Sound familiar?
Now if only Ryan could turn into Montana we’d be frakin set!!

now granted I'm not saying he IS Rice

He is like Rice in that he does all of those things above. And, Just that – Could you imagine 5 more years of Roddy playing like he is this year?? WOW!! Thats gonna be awesome to watch for a while- Ryan to Roddy over and over and over and over again!!

Go Roddy !

White leads all NFL players in yardage gained in the air.

Best WR in the NFL !

He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is
