This is week six in the series of looking at the Falcons 2010 opponents. This week, the Bengals.
The Bengals lead this series, 7-4, going back to 1971, when the Falcons won the first ever meeting, a 9-6 slugfest in Cincy. The Bengals would win the next five until 1990, when the back in black squad, with Deion Sanders showing his stuff on a Sunday night national telecast, stuffed and mounted the playoff bound Bengals, 38-17, in one of the better games in a crummy season.
The Falcons have also won the last two, another Sunday night shellacing in 2002, 30-3 in the ATL, and a 29-27 thriller in Cincy back in '06. It was the last good game of the season before the bottom dropped out the following week at Detroit. The most disappointing game of the series for me was last game of the very disappointing 1981 season, when hoser Mick Luckhurst (never was a big fan of his for this reason) missed what could of been a winning field goal to end the season at 8-8. Lost that one, 30-28.
Other than what was already said, this series has been hum-drum to say the least, with both teams good, bad or one being the other, the games look like the unattractive girl you wanted nothing to do with in school, because they were just plain ugly.
Next week, I'm taking off due to bye, unless you guys want me to post sometime just to post for your amusement, but the next installment will be in two weeks, when we look at the Bucs. Arrrrrgggghhh!!!
