Rooting for Saints?

I am curious how many of you out there are rooting for the Saints in the Superbowl.  I've heard a lot of mixed opinion on this, so I'd like to take a poll of our site's users.

I, for one, am pulling for the Colts.  Because the Saints are a rival, I don't want them to succeed.  I don't care that it would be good for our division.  Also, not to be insensitive, but I am SOOO tired of everyone playing the Katrina card.  God forbid that Katrina meets 9/11 in the Superbowl.  Who would we root for?

Saints, because I don't like the Colts.

Yadda yadda yadda, flim flam floo, overrated, haven’t played anyone, Saints have had a tougher road, etc etc, et al.

You have opinions. We all do. Some of yours may have to do with the Falcons. Sign up today and share them.

Hell no

I don’t buy in to the whole “lets root for the division because if they win then we win and then we’re all winners GROUP HUG YAYYYYYY!!!” mentality. Screw the Saints. Thanks for getting rid of Favre for us, now please, roll over and play dead.

It's partly because Saints fans have been a good rival

And it’s partly because I frankly can’t stand the Colts. I’ll be pulling for the Saints.

Curious

Why would you hate the Colts? I can understand people not liking the Patriots (Spygate), current or past division rivals (like 49ers), Dallas (“America’s Team”, past playoff defeats, the loathsome Jerry Jones), etc. But the Colts? If anything, I respect the heck out of just how consistent they (and Peyton especially) have been this last decade or so. It’s not like it’s the Yankees, who are playing with a stacked deck (without the Salary Cap)…

I didn’t mind rooting for the Saints to get to the SB, but I don’t want them to win one before the Falcons.

I'm thinking lesser of two evils

You’ve got to understand that I have a deep-seated love of the underdog. I hate the Colts precisely because they’ve been so successful over the last decade. It’s a terrible reason, but rationality when it comes to the NFL has never been one of my strong points.

Im getting the feeling

the Colts are beginning to become the underdogs. Especially in fan terns as opposed to talent terms.

This will be uphill for the Saints

They’re talking about killing Peyton Manning, but I’m not sure that’s possible.

If they did

im sure Archie would find a way to have another child. Although something must have malfunctioned with Eli. Maybe he got his mothers genes…

No I think eli has his dads genes

Archie wasn’t that great in the pros either. At least E has a ring.

When the Saints were playing Dallas, and Dallas had to lose for us to stay in the playoff race

I STILL rooted against the Saints.

No, in other words.

Ha...same here.

If that was ALL that it would have taken to get us into the playoffs, I might have had to root for the Saints. Being unlikely, I had to root for the Cowboys.

No

Headhunting Kurt Warner, who has had issues with concussions in the past… Hitting Favre late a ton (and sometimes at the knees)… there’s playing hard, but their pass rushers sure looked borderline dirty these past 2 games.

I hope Peyton survives – and rips them to shreds.

Amen.

They KILLED Farve all game. His wife was covering her face for half of the game. It’s part of the game, but they were definitely trying to hurt him (as opposed to just tackling him). I guess that’s not too uncommon, but I like to think that that’s not the case.

by TomQ on Jan 25, 2010 3:46 PM EST up reply actions

Thats the name of the game

Sorry I cant agree here but hitting Brett early and often worked.
And if it was your defense doing it you would be happy to.
Brett is my favorite all time QB I live pretty close to his home town but i’m a diehard Saints fan and I think GW has had a fantastic game plan.
We have faced 2 future HOF QB’s and are going to face a 3rd they have to be slowed down some how.
I really like Peyton but he also has to go down early, often and hard

by mississippisaintsfan on Jan 26, 2010 9:08 AM EST up reply actions

You're right about that...

I would be happy if it was my team! Unless they were getting penalties for those hits. There was one hit (where Farve got hit high and low) for which I think the Saints should have been penalized for a low hit.

by TomQ on Jan 26, 2010 9:20 AM EST up reply actions

The Saints are our main rival

NEVER root for the Saints….well, unless they play the Cowboys…then…..maybe…

Upon moving to AL, I let my wife decide who she would root for. After one day at a new job full of Bama fans, she met me at the door with a hearty cry of "WAR EAGLE"

Not only no

but HELL NO. Why on earth would you pull for someone in your own division to win the super bowl??? When other teams in your division are doing better than you are it just makes you look bad. Not to mention the fact that it is the AINTS. The biggest rival we have. There is no way I would ever pull for them. I hope that since they have had a lucky horseshoe up thier arse all season and that the Colts logo is a horseshoe that the Colts will rip the darn thing out and beat them over the head with it…. LOL!!!!

HAHAHA!!!!

I know, right? how can we actually be at this place?

by Ball Hawk on Jan 26, 2010 9:03 PM EST up reply actions

always pull for your division stupid

that way if you beat them the next year it motivates your team, when falcons went to the superbowl, all saints fans pulled for falcons they are in the south and we wanted them to win your looser.

by bigbaddon on Feb 17, 2010 9:16 AM EST up reply actions

Absolutely, no way, nuh-uh, not at all... 0 chance...

Great, that’s all fine and dandy. All the teams in the NFC South have made it to the Super Bowl now. Hurray for them.

It’s bad enough the Bucs won a Super Bowl before we did. I can’t stand the thought of the aint’s accomplishing the same feat. Go Colts.

They can feel free to go and win a SB after we do. Thank you.

I'm with you

No frickin’ way. First time in a long time I will root for the Colts.

by Cracker! on Jan 26, 2010 3:13 PM EST up reply actions

I am sorry to dissagree with so many

but as a Falcoholic I have been impressed with the Aint’s fans that have come to our board all year long.
Even if i liked the Dolts I would feel a certain affinity with the Aint’s fan base.
Also as i have said a few times before I have never rooted for a Superstar that is the whole team. The Aint’s play as a team and if one falls others are there to take up the slack. Not so with the Dolt’s. The Aint’s are the better team and should win unless they let the Superbowl party fever get to them.

by Funballad on Feb 2, 2010 12:12 PM EST reply actions

um

NAH! That is a bunch of BS. Aside from the fact that I despise the Aints as a team, the fans aint winnin me over either. Did you go to the Saints game? The fans that come to the dome are very rude and obnoxious. It takes a lot to get me mad and I had at to get my buddy to hold me back a couple of times because the Aints fans we being so obnoxious. If my son had been with me I would have left due to all of the profanites they were throwing around. the majority of them were also very intoxicated. I drink a couple of beers at the game myself, but I dont get sloshed. cmon now, you cant pull for the aints if you are a Falcon.

The saints fans

that come to this site are obviously more civilized than the ones coming to the dome… I just want to state that as well.

by Hardcore Falcon on Feb 4, 2010 1:48 PM EST up reply actions

Poor behavior in our dome?

I know exactly what you mean about the aints fans being a general displeasure to be around. Friends of mine went to that game and actually did end up fighting some drunken fools after the game ended. The whole franchise leaves me with a bitter taste in my mouth and looking for some purell. Dirty people indeed…
