Atlanta Falcons vs. Carolina Panthers Open Thread

You know, 2-0 sounds pretty great. Think we can make it happen?

The Falcons are staying put this weekend and taking on the stalwart Panthers, who are looking to bounce back while the dudes in the throwback uniforms look to keep rolling. Unfortunately, I won't get to catch any of it due to (what else?) work, so I expect you guys to run comments up well into the triple digits without me. Pour out a little Falcohol, too.

Personally, I think this is a very winnable game if the Falcons can muster the same defensive effort they did against the Dolphins. Here's to what should be a great game to watch, though like last week, I wouldn't complain if the Falcons just absolutely trash the Teal Cats. Enjoy!

Let's break it down to the atomic level.

Who? Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers, 1 p.m. EST

Where? Georgia Dome, Atlanta, Georgia

Weather? Confucius say "man under dome roof not worry about rain."

Injuries? S William Moore is still questionable, but will likely get a few snaps this weekend. It'll be nice to see how helpful he can be against a quality running game. K Jason Elam and DT Peria Jerry are probable, but I fully expect them both to start and be effective, particularly because Elam has something to prove after a subpar performance Week 1.

The Panthers have listed S Chris Harris as doubtful and DT Nick Hayden as questionable. A few other players are probable, but the biggest effect on us would be if second-year T Jeff Otah or RB Jonathan Stewart were at all limited.

Odds? Atlanta over Carolina 6.0, O/U 44.0

Foe? Your friends and mine over at Cat Scratch Reader. You know the drill by now: Stop over and comment, but be polite. And comment more here. Don't embarrass me in front of the Panthers fans.

GO FALCONS! Let's reduce these cats to kittens!

I'm not getting the game locally...

Visiting in VA Beach today, so I get to delight in Rams/Redskins. Where would I go to find a feed of the game?

Glad to see Elam was finally listed as having a sore left hammy.

I knew something was affecting him since he missed the Extra Point in Preseason.

Weird stat from Hank Goldberg – Atlanta is 1 and 17 ats at home after a win. Goldberg took the 6.

Should be a good game.

I expect Honest Abe and the Beer Man to make some deliveries to Jake.

I expect our LB’s will make a lot of tackles on DeAngelo and Stewart.

I want Ovie to score another TD !

I'm almost amazed by this team

A game and a bit in, and the offense looks more like the Patriots than the Falcons from last season.

Ryan made a bad throw, but i’m surprised at how little Turner has been used. We haven’t been a run first offense this season. TA lot of it falls on Tony G’s shoulders, there’s just too many weapons not to be passing.
But Turner’s 30+ carries games will come, and if we can keep him fresh for the late stretch it will be huge.
Also, I’m actually impressed by Delhomme. He doesn’t look bad, and as much as I hate the Panthers I can’t help but root for the guy to at least do well over the course of the season after how far he was thrown under the bus.

I’m impressed. Great game today and as someone who has been very hard on Houston and Grimes, I’m putting in my vote for Dave to give the game ball to Houston. Because even with Matty Ice’s heroics, if Chris doesn’t step in front of Steve Smith at the end it’s all for naught.

So make that happen Dave!

HA HA HA HA told you so. The Dirty Birds was going to win. When we stop finding fault with players who play the game (90, 87, 34, 28, 89) and put the blame where it needs to be put (17), then maybe we can get a decent quarterback & oh by the way, what happend to the Panthers new quarterback today? Was he just put in to make the predjudice carolinians shut up? Didn’t work huh, Didn’t work huh! Oh guess what, They aint gon’ do nothing to Dallas either. I don't see why we should care about your opinion when you fail at typing a complete thought.

In any event, I would like to wish the Falcons well the rest of the season. You played a good game today. May you have success and lose the division by one game, make it to the Playoffs via a wildcard, and lose to the Panthers again deep in the postseason.

Haha. Got to support my team you know. Good game in either event.

I think that might actually be a Panthers fan

But it’s very, very hard to tell.

It is a Panthers fan

How could Revshawn miss that? Why would a Falcons fan be so enraged over Jake Delhomme? Tried to slam us I guess, but his team will be cellar dwellin’ with Tampa this year.

I think it was deliberately somewhat ambiguous

But it was also posted three times. I don’t really tolerate that.
