Atlanta Falcon Training Camp Discussion

In my neck of the woods, it's a beautiful Saturday afternoon and the last day of my only vacation of the year, so I'm going to spend as much of it as I can either outside or being incredibly lazy. Sometimes the truth hurts.

Consider this an all-purpose discussion thread for everything that's happened at training camp and what we can learn from it. Obviously, we know Harry Douglas is out and that Thomas DeCoud will probably win the starting SS job, but what else can we infer? That's up to you, my good friends.

Go to it!

Questions shift to the receiving core

Before camp this wouldn’t even had been a thought in anyone’s mind. Now with HD going down and Roddy holding out its concerning because as Ive noticed, we don’t have much depth at the position (I do know TD signed Booker and Ferguson). I also know we have a great running game and Tony Gonzalez but without HD the situation seems a lot less gravy behind Jenkins and Roddy.

Just got back from Roam the Dome

Bergeron actually looked great…made a couple of nice catches. Weems also looked pretty solid, not only as a receiver, but as a punt return man too. Kelly had a few nice catches as well.

Gonzalez had a beauty of a TD catch from Ryan – grabbed it from the sky between two defenders.

Forgot to mention...

Ferguson had plenty of catches too – he looked good.

Tom's absolutely correct.

Bergeron was a beast. Great returning and receiving. Weems is second strongest. Ferguson was servicable. Real highlight of the day was Tony G in the end zone. My, my what a catch.

Honorable mention to the Dome’s new HUGE jumbotrons. Crystal clear and sharp and easy to see from anywhere in the place. Pics and a full report to come tomorrow.

I was worried at first

But the more I think about it the less I’m worried about it. Finn is more than capable of being the 3rd wr and we have some talented young guys in camp as well. Plus roster cuts are coming up and if a better option is out there you can bet TD will jump on it

Roddy White signed!

The official site and ESPN are reporting Roddy White has come to terms on a 6 year contract extension, making him the second highest paid receiver to Larry Fitzgerald. Sounds like a good deal! Get on to camp Roddy!

About freaking time!

I hope his contract is loaded with all kinds of incentives that require him to perform.

Either way, I’m glad he is locked up for 6 years, he seems like the kinda guy that is gonna perform for his team regardless of whether he is in a contract year or not.

know what you believe in and why you believe in it

Great News

Hopefully he performs now. Last time we sorted out his contract (rookie) he ended up becoming an eventual Pro-Bowler. Lets see what happens now, hope he doesn’t slack off.

Kudos to Arthur Blank

…for not dicking around and getting this done, and minimizing the distraction…especially with HD going down.
