  • You DO NOT talk about Jessie Tuggle.

  • Only twenty two guys a ball.
  • One ball at a time.
  • Helmets, pads recommended.
  • Fights will go on for sixty minutes.
  • If this is your first time, you have to make two nominations.

I am Jack's 5 time Pro Bowler

1. Tommy Nobis
2. Keith Brooking

Also, especially if we’re going to do MLBs and OLBs, Greg Brezina, John Rade, Fulton Kuykendall, and Buddy Curry.

Only after disaster can we be resurrected.

That works pretty good for ‘07-’08, huh?

I absolutely agree...

Has to be Nobis followed by Brooking. Hands down.

Can I get some love for Ed Hartwell...

No linebacker in our history did a better job not delivering then him…

I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three.

Elayne Boosler

Yeah, about that...

When we signed him, I remarked how his legs looked like tree trunks.

Little did I realize…

Immobility was one of his strong suits

As were his leafy arms.

Yep.

Nobis. Followed at a respectful distance by Kuykendall and Brooking. And I’d bet Tuggle would fall in line as well.

I revere Mr. Falcon, can’t you tell?

Nobis and Brooking for sure, but

like some of the others I have to give honorable mentions to Kuykendall (captain krazy), Curry, Brezina, and Joel Williams. all of whom I have met and are all really cool in person and will stop and talk to you about football.

Life is a garden. Dig it!

Our only Pro Bowl LBs were Nobis, Brooking, Brezina, Chris Doleman and that guy that shall go nameless.

by Jon Cushman on Aug 3, 2009 1:47 PM EDT reply actions

So, I have to nominate two?`

Can it really be anyone besides Nobis and Brooking? What, there isn’t anybody else? Okay then, Nobis and Brooking.

Greatest?

Hands down, Tuggle.

Southern Dirt.

Welcome to the site!

Apparently, everyone agreed with you…we voted Tuggle as the greatest Falcon ever a couple of months ago.

and why did we vote for this

how is it not nobis and brookings ok on to dbs chop chop

Nobis

Obviously this poll was taken by the younger fans. No way Nobis is NOT the all time best linebacker in Falcon history. Hands down. Unequivocal. Mr. Nameless was good, but Nobis was the prototype middle linebacker in the Butkus mold. Through all those 2-12 and 3-11 seasons, we watched the Falcons just to see Tommy put running backs on the DL.

I don't dispute that

There is a significant contingent of younger fans here, myself included, who remember Tuggle much more vividly than Nobis. It’s hard to believe how underrated Nobis still is.

Underrated to some

but not to those of us who saw the guy play. I mentioned this in another post before. Most people are going to go by the player they remember seeing the most. I am fotunate enough to have seen Nobis play in person when I was a kid. He was a bad MF. I would still choose the nameless one as the number 1 LB though.
