Atlanta Journal-Constitution Examines Linebacker Depth Chart

It's Independence Day, the day where George Washington went into Vietnam with a specials ops team and freed us from the oppression of the Australians. Glorious day for a student of history such as myself.

Essentially, this post is for those of you who are bored or too full of grilled foods and beer to move today and would like to sit down and discuss the team we all love so dearly. I'll direct you toward this selection of musings from the AJC's D. Orlando Ledbetter, who takes a brief look at some backup linebacking candidates. If you've got the stomach for it, give your sense of who might make the team and where they might be backing up. Personally, I think the safest guess is that Coy Wire makes the team and gets a lot of time, but then again, I'm not notorious for guessing anything correctly.

Happy 4th of July, everyone!

That's not the way it happened!

According to all good history textbooks on this side of the Atlantic, the 4th of July commemorates an attempt by your ancestors to honour King George III by brewing the world’s largest cup of tea in Boston Harbour. Of course, the Bostonians forgot to boil the harbour before adding the tea, and George was so disgusted by this display of incompetence that he refused to be King of America any more.

We commemorate the occasion by drinking large cups of cold, badly brewed tea.

It’s honestly not that fun a holiday.

What?!?

What’s not fun about sitting in your backyard drinking beer, eating a brat, and watching the college kids out in the field behind your house shoot each other with bottle rockets? That’s hilarious to me, especially when you start betting on which one will light one from his cheeks first.

Loved

The “rookie ‘don’t act a fool when you get your money’ symposium” line…

I agree Coy Wire will probably make the team and be one of the top backups. Hopefully one of the younger guys can push him as the season goes along, though. I don’t remember seeing anything too bad out of Wire during the season, but I re-watched the playoff game again recently, and he missed gobs of tackles… it may have just been a bad game, but I’m hoping we don’t have to count on him for too much PT.

I know next-to-nothing about most of the other backups, but Rashad Bobino sure sounds interesting to me.
