CB David Irons was waived today by the Falcons. Irons was selected in the sixth round of the 2007 draft out of Auburn. He played mostly special teams but was hampered by an injury last season. During his rookie season he accumulated 13 tackles and 1 fumble recover over the course of the season. He played in 5 games last season prior to being injured.

The Irons Twins

Man, whatever happened to both of these guys? Didn’t his brother get drafted by the Bengals in like the 2nd round? He got cut pretty quickly.

In a way, each of us has an El Guapo to face.

I'll miss having him around

He was a guy I always thought would assume a nickel role, and whether by injuries or ineffectiveness, he never got it done. Good luck out there, Irons!

I guess

We can’t say this was unexpected, after the team drafted two CB’s. I figured he was a long-shot to make the roster, but I didn’t think he’d get cut before camp. Hopefully, he’ll have better health in the future and get another shot somewhere else…

Hmmm...

Interesting take here – he basically says cutting Irons now puts the team below the 80 player roster limit, allowing the team to bring one more player to camp. Any ideas?

A veteran on defense?
Depth for the O-Line?

Does anyboby

know anything about this Glenn Sharpe guy we signed last year out of Miami? I expected him and a couple of other to go before Irons.
