The Saturday Atlanta Falcon Discussion Thread
We're seeing conjecture kick into high gear as we get closer to training camp, so this is your place to sort things out.
For example, Harry Douglas is probably not going to pass Michael Jenkins next year...but what if he does? What kind of numbers could we expect? Will the Falcons trim Michael Turner's carries significantly, and who will benefit? Will anyone besides John Abraham ever get a sack again?
Only you can tell.

Can't wait for training camp.
It’s about that time that I start getting REALLY antsy for the season to begin. Not too far off now! On a different note, I was just given tickets to the Carolina home game which brings the total of games I will attend to 3 regular season and one preseason. I will be attending the home opener, the said Carolina game and for what should be REALLY interesting, the away game against the Giants! Even more of a bonus I haven’t had to pay for a single one! WOO-HOO!
In a way, each of us has an El Guapo to face.
For Harry Douglas to really become a 3rd Wideout star
We’d have to run a lot of singleback sets with Gonzalez on the weak side for blocking or really burn the D on a quick slant/stutter route. It’s tough to really feature Tony, Roddy, Michael J and the Burner as it is in a set that allows good protection for Matt and gives time for those guys to get up the field/find holes in the line. If we spread out too much further, the D may not be willing to bite and rush an O-Line that is solid up front, but without much depth. This would really wear our guys out, and we’d see a dropoff at the end of games, when we will probably need them most. If we had the line and depth that the Colts or Pats have, then that 3wr singleback spread would be amazing.
we can't run it all the time
But we can run some singleback 3wr as a changeup. Or 3 wr with norwood and turner both in the backfield. I’m as excited as anyone else to have MR. Gonzalez in the red and black but he is getting towards the end of his career plus he will be blocking more than he is used to so I don’t think he will be on the field every single play we run. We have enough talent to keep defenses guessing at what we are going to do next anywhere from 2 TE to 4 WR sets. I really think Ryan is going to cement himself as a franchise QB this year. We will still be a run first team but we won’t have to lean on it as heavily as we did last year

Yea...
we could definitely splash it in the mix, but it would be dependent on TG being out of the lineup for those plays. Norwood and Mughelli would be great backs for it, so Ovie could help pick up the rush. Put Harry on a quick slant across the middle (he’s young, he can afford to give up his body) and see if he can turn it into six by making a few guys miss with his speed and agility.
wow
Just played the madden 10 demo yesterday. Matt Leinarts bust status has dropped him down to a 68 overall. I wonder how bad JA’s ratings have dropped lol
