The Sunday Off Topic Open Thread
This thread is the result of a lack of sleep and a quiet weekend of news. Now you know!
Basically, this is a thread to talk about anything that pops into your mind. All I ask is that you mind the basic rules of the site, but otherwise go to town. We'll be back to our Falcon-centric news on Monday morning, I assure you.
Have fun and prosper!

i do
and i cant believe how they killed us in 09’ a 61 rating, lol and matt ryan was 83 and redmond was 82 but redmond was the starter, lol. kills me man
but n e thinks about whats going to happen with this defense and if owens will beat out grimes?
whose better moore or decoud cause he’s really come on strong.
yeah 09 sucked
Looking forward to seeing how our offense looks on 10
I’m pulling for chevis jackson to win the starting job, I have a lot of faith in him, actually think he may be the best cb on the team.
Moore or Decoud? Tough question there. I think Moore will win out the starting job, Decoud will be the backup at FS, but come in at SS on passing downs, Jamaal Fudge is another guy to keep your eye on. Every time I see him play he is always around the ball, pretty big hitter too, not sayin he will take time away from Moore or Decoud but he is quality depth/special teams material.

The Madden 09 ratings still have Ryan in the 80's.
And the Falcons are still ranked relatively low.

Where did u find the ratings at? I’ve only seen the rookie ratings online
by FLA_Falcon on Jul 20, 2009 7:03 AM EDT via mobile up reply actions
The Madden 2010 ratings scheme has been adjusted across the board. Most players/teams are a little lower throughout.
Maybe there is no Heaven. Or maybe this is all pure gibberish — a product of the demented imagination of a lazy drunken hillbilly with a heart full of hate who has found a way to live out where the real winds blow — to sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whisky, and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested...Res ipsa loquitur. Let the good times roll.

I'm aware.
Which theoretically means that the Falcons are “better” than they were in last years’ game. This also means that the Lions and 49ers should be somewhere in the 60’s.

season tickets
this is completely irrelevant to anything being discussed, but i just got season tickets and i’m insanely excited. this seemed like the only place to share that excitement where people might understand. section 211 – i’m weeping with joy.

Like Dave said...
Open thread. Talk about anything. I’m happy for you though. I have tickets to the Miami game, not sure what section yet. I’ve never been to a game in Atlanta, only their two games in J-Ville the last 2 years
by FLA_Falcon on Jul 19, 2009 2:25 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
I've never been either
but thanks to tlozwarlock, I have a ticket to that game.
I’m absolutely stoked. Never been to a game either.
It’s gonna be great, we should meet up during the tailgate party.
know what you believe in and why you believe in it
If i get there in time to tailgate
Driving to Albany the night before, then heading to Atlanta the morning of the game, so I’m not sure how long that will take.
Where you coming from? Jesse mentioned something about you being close to our arear…

I'm stationed in Ft. Stewart, GA now
when I get out of the Army in December, I’ll be moving to Jacksonville. I’ll be going to Jax U in January.

You'll be fine
I hear there is actually a pretty decent Falcon following around here. I just need to find them all. And as for college, there are tons of UGAy fans and a decent GT fanbase as well.
Jacksonville is a transplant city, so you will find a fan for just about any team out there. At the very least I will be more than happy to host a few Sunday Falcoholic BBQs.
*burp*
Bucs, Jags, Dolphails, Seminoles, and Gators.
That’s what I call a bad trip. Any word when/if you’ll be back in the loving arms of good ol’ GA?

not soon enough
maybe the Falcons are a trip to the Superbowl away from enough bandwagon fans that it won’t matter where I live…
I’m gonna keep hoping.

What's wrong with FSU??
Geez…
I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three.
Elayne Boosler
Let me count the ways
The scandal, the non existance of quality WR’s and RB’s, Bobby B?
Haha, I keed. Sort of. I actually plan on seeing a FSU-GT pairing in the ACC championship game. Hey, we can meet up and go to that game. We’ll have the whole endzone to ourselves.
Well aren't we talkative today?
Guess I’m the only one with nothing better to do today lol

Birmingham's "Dome" stadium approved
Investment group looking to get Bham a NFL franchise in the next expansion year, which may occur when/if the 18 game schedule is installed.
Does this mean I’ll desert the Falcons? No. By the time my home state gets a team, I’ll be living in the lap of Georgiadom, as it should be.

BOOO, boo, oh how i hate corporate america boooooooo
Just found out about the deal between the NFL and DirectTV w/r/t exclusive TV rights. DirectTV will be the only one selling an NFL package this year and they are charging over $200 for it, around $300 if you want it all in HD. Nothing can be offered by Comcast or DishNetwork or any other provider because of the deal.
This essentially means I might get lucky to see two games this year at home. Because I live in Jacksonville, even if we are playing at Tampa and are supposed to be on TV locally, I get a nice black screen or a different game because the Jags get exclusive TV time. And since they can’t give enough tickets away, they are constantly blacked out which means I get nothing.
Looks like FLA and MIA will have to be joining me in a sportsbar for Falcons games. We’ll see though. I’m still going to try and host at least one party if I can.
This is still boo.
Dude. DUDE.
Sucks. Some season tickets aren’t even 300 bucks. SUCKS.
