Nominate the Greatest Falcons WR of All Time
Steve Bartkowski needs some options. Alge Crumpler, though talented, does not an offense make. You know what to do. Start nominating!

Rules on length of service?
Alfred Jenkins….Roddy White….and if he’s allowed after only one year, HoF Tommy McDonald

Same as before I would suppose
5yrs of Falcons service and it has to be based on their Falcons numbers during those years.

Roddy White has 4 years, and is probably the best we've ever had in terms of talent...

umm
check the records for Falcons receivers please. Terrance Mathis holds the vast majority of them.

That doesnt mean hes better does it.

Ken Burrow was pretty good
And just for kicks and grins, lets not forget the the most inappropriately named man in NFL history, Peerless Price

Worst WR ever
I complained a lot about Roddy and Jenkins dropping a bunch of passes early in their careers, but I knew they would get better. Price, however, to me, is a worse player than some people like to portray Vick, or even Hall. I’m actually getting pissed off right now as the memories flood back from all the times I almost broke my TV when he simply stopped running on plays. It was horrible how he simply gave up on not only every play that wasn’t perfect placed in his hands for him, but the entire season after Vick got his leg broke.
I don’t like wishing ill will upon anyone, but if I had to choose one person, he would definitely be the lucky one.

My best friend the Bills fan
Loudly predicted that Peerless would suck in Atlanta, and I’ve never forgiven him. Every time I play Madden ’06, I trade his ass for the best offer that comes along.

Long story
Basically, Madden ’08 for the Wii kept freezing and I quit it in disgust. Amateur hour production there, and I was disappointed. I always buy in even years and the last title I had was Madden ’06 for the PS2, so I just gutted the roster, rolled with the Create-A-Player editor and here I am.

Madden 10 will eat your soul...
Or so EA says…I just got NCAA 10 in the mail today. Can’t wait to start up PoDunk Uni and take em to the BCS Champ.
I game on a PS3 though…had a Wii for all of six months. Just couldn’t bring myself to enjoy it.

where'd you order it from?
I’m going to be stuck at gamestop at midnight tonight to score my copy (it’s reserved, I just don’t want to wait until tomorrow) and you managed to conveniently get it in the mail a day early?
I’m jealous… but I’d like to enjoy this luxury for Madden 10.

GameStop's TN distro center
overnighted the game a day early. I ain’t complaining. I ordered it at GameStop.com
Sure, I paid an extra ten bucks for S/H, but I get to give my DivIII non-football school a successful perennial bowl team a day early.

not so bad being stuck
The gamestop here is having an ncaa tourney starting at 10 pm leading up to the midnight release. Once the all time team is finished being voted for someone should create them as a downloadable school, I’d volunteer but I have am bad about putting the player ratings way too high

that's what the gamestop here on Ft. Stewart is doing also
and I guess if it turns out well enough, they’ll find me there at 10pm again a month from now. If not, then I’ll gladly pay 10 bucks to start throwing a pixelated football to my very own pixelated Tony Gonzalez a day early.

I nominate the Funky Chicken—-Billie White Shoes Johnson on the old timers list..
I also heard Andre Rison has nominated himself the greatest Atlanta WR of all time to go with his self-appointed Hall Of Fame nomination.

um okay
I like him too but I thought when he came to us he was used mostly as a return guy…?

Yes he’ll be on the Top Returner list. Sadly we don’t have too many great WR.

We're going to vote 2 in, right?
If so, Hardcore Falcon’s got it pretty much covered… I mean, you could put up guys like Stacey Bailey, Floyd Dixon, Bert Emanuel, Ken Burrow, or even Brian Finneran for the vote. But I think he’s got the serious candidates already taken care of…
by orang3b on Jul 13, 2009 12:20 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Agreed
And I’ve already got my two picked out.

I think
We’ve got 3 worthy guys for 2 spots: Mathis, Rison, and Alfred Jenkins. And like others have said, Roddy should be right there in about two or three more years…
by orang3b on Jul 13, 2009 4:00 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think right now
Without delving deeply into stats, I’d go Terence Mathis and Alfred Jenkins. I loved Rison during his time, but I think I’d be most comfortable with those two.

Rison was great
4 Pro Bowls, 1 First Team All-Pro, and 72.2 Yards per Game average. But he was only in ATL for 5 years. I think I’m leaning towards Alfred Jenkins (9 yrs, 2 PB, 1-1AP, 57.0 Y/G) and Mathis (8 yrs, 1 PB, 58.3 Y/G) too…

Yeah, he's leaping up the boards
If he stays healthy, he’s virtually a lock to make this team someday.

Returners...
If we come up with a returners list, can I put my vote in?
Billy Ryckman and Reggie “the gnat” Smith!

Mathis
I think any great WR discussion has to start with him. Both the numbers and his contribution to the teams success makes him my choice. White Shoes Johnson? Man, I do love that guy but he shouldn’t be anywhere near this convo. Sentimental fave? Oh yeah. 166 catches for a little more than 2K yards and 12 td’s over the course of 6 years? I don’t think so. Granted, he was an electric return man, but this is for WR. I wonder if there will be a return specialist category in the near future here?
In a way, each of us has an El Guapo to face.

Can't we...
…elect 3? Mathis and Jenkins on the wings, and Rison in the slot…
And I remember Michael Haynes making a lot of great catches for us for a while there…

hey
i say roddy white should be considered up there. the past two seasons he has had joey harrington and rookie matt ryan as qb and he was producing. and as for kick returners you cant forget allen rossum.

Greatest Falcons WR of All Time
i agree with the list and if you do have a greatest return list, let me say that if Prime Time is not at the top of the list then the list is really a joke

Greatest Falcon WR
I’m going with Andre “Badmoon” Rison. The 5 years he was with us he only had one season where he didn’t catch for atleast 1,000 yards and that was in 91’ with 976. Just think he put in more work than the other guys. Terance Mathis comes second.

White Shoes
Can’t believe he has gotten this many mentions. In the grand scheme of things, he wasn’t that good a WR. Before everyone gets into a huff, I do think he was an outstanding return man.
Maybe there should be a separate vote for your favorite WR (or any other position) rather than who was actually the best. Hate to complain about that, but I think those two lines have been blurred here and in other "best (insert position here) of alltime.
And yes, I did just type “insert position”, and yes it did make me giggle.
In a way, each of us has an El Guapo to face.

We can always do favorite Falcon of all time.
But this exercise is, as maybe I should’ve stated earlier, performance based.

Here my input!
William Anderw, Check his stats. Also a RB by the name of Bubba Bean was good for years on a bad team then. 1 more Lynn Cain. google a run by ATL FLC Lynn Cain watch this man, also on bad team then. Had the move of Walter Payton but not the power.
by SIR SPOON on Jul 16, 2009 8:09 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Cain...
Not too bad. I think he almost ran for 1000 yrds one year. He was around 900-915 or so…
