The Atlanta Falcon Minicamp Cometh

Yes, we're actually going to see players on the Atlanta Falcons taking a field of some sort and doing what can only be described as football-type things. Get pumped!

Saturday's practice is supposed to be open to the fans if fire doesn't rain from the skies, so hopefully a few of you will be there and able to report back. For those of us not so fortunate, I'll be posting galleries of Associated Press photos as soon as they become available, as well as any useful information on how the news guys are holding up.

Use this as your catch-all speculation thread for the days ahead and to discuss Falcon football in general. Once I bulldoze my way out from under the wreckage of my week, I'll have a profile of new offensive tackle Garrett Reynolds up as well.

Keep it real!

I'll be there with the camera, an unofficial roster, and my fiancee.

And the weather report says: partly cloudy, 20% chance of rain on Saturday for the Branch. Let’s hope it stays that way. I haven’t seen the sun since Friday of last week.

What exactly goes on at these events?

Any interaction with the players? What’s the crowd typically like?

Minicamp/Pre-Season Practices are Great!

There is a large slope, terraced for visitors to watch practice. The players rotate among the fields, so you get to see a little bit of everything up close. (Trust me – Norwood looks even FASTER when you are 15 yeards away as he sprints by) At the end of each practice, there are 2-3 units of players who will work the line signing cards, footballs, bald heads…whatever you’ve got. And there is no admission fee. I try to make as many practices as I can, because the players REALLY like the fans being there. It is VERY family friendly, and has never felt crowded.

I'm stoked about it

I’ll definitely be there, sporting my recently aquired Falcoholic T-shirt (thanks to tlozwarlock). I’ll be using my camera like I can’t see without it and look forward to bragging about the awesomeness that is this event when I return.

This will be my first mini-camp. I am really excited about it.
