Sam Baker

I was talking with some friends about our O-Line the other day and we got into a discussion about how good/bad Baker was last year. They claim various reports have him as extremley average. I know he was hurt last year, but I thought (when he played) he had a very solid rookie season. Last year we set a franchise record for least amount of sacks so he couldn't have done that badly. I was thinking because it's so slow right now we could break him down and evaluate him. Thanks!

Baker started 5 games last year.

We won 4 of those. Those four games were heavy run games, too. I’d say he lived up to expectation until the injury.

yeah

all things considered he did well. I want to see him play a full season before I pass final judgement. I did see a couple of play where he got man handled, but hey a rookie has got to learn somehow.

He should do well.

I think if he stays healthy and plays every game he’ll give us the reason as to why we traded up to draft. Dimitroff did that for a reason, right? And so far, he hasn’t let us down. Our offense is, most definitely, going to be one of the best in the league this year. Quote me on that one!

Agree

I think that he will play well. He is certainly a tough competitor. I mean, the man came back from back surgery to finsh out the season. If thats not tough I don’t know what is.

FILE - In this Sept. 4, 2009 file photo, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Shaun Hill aims a pass downfield against the San Diego Chargers during the first quarter of an NFL preseason football game in San Diego. Hill earned the starting job for the 2009 season by beating out Alex Smith, who missed last season after re-injuring his surgically repaired throwing shoulder. Head coach Mike Singletary largely chose Hill based on his play down the stretch last year: he went 5-3 over the final eight games and he also owns a 5-0 record at home in Candlestick Park.
