The Falcoholic Mock Draft Spectacular: Fourth Round Nominations

I know, I know. Two short, discussion-based posts in two days must mean Dave the Falconer is being lazy. If we're going to get this mock draft done before the actual draft, however, we're going to have to cram the next three rounds into less than two weeks. No pressure, of course.

I do have a few nominations from the Sen'Derrick Marks post earlier this week, so those will all be considered. Starting in this round, I will be selecting the two most likely or quality picks at each position for you guys to vote on. That ought to cut down on the incredibly long list we've been voting on the last few times out.

Make me proud, ladies and gentlemen!

LB

Jasper Brinkley. That man was a beast at S. Carolina. May have some injury concerns, though.

Sebastian Vollmer (Houston OT)

6’8 and 315 lbs … so the size is there. He’s a bit of a late-bloomer, but he’s an excellent pass blocker AND he has good agility for his size (meaning his run blocking skills will only continue to develop).

His size forces DEs to take “the long way” en route to the QB (which I’m sure Matty Ice would appreciate).

Here’s a video if you’re interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnSVRA9HaXw

Let’s be realistic w/ our nominations people. We drafted a DT in the third round of this mock, so we’re not going to draft another. While we might need to pick up a couple of OLBs in this draft, I’d say an OT is a bigger priority than a second OLB (meaning we should draft an OT before a second OLB in the mock).

In that case

How about Kraig Urbik (OT) out of Wisconsin. He is 6’5 328. Not sure about his pass blocking ability since Wisconsin is primarily a run team. He has the size though.

Nominated Urbik a couple spots up. I’m not as familiar with Urbik as Vollmer, but they both have good size.

Yeah

My nominations were OT and D-backs. They’re in the other post and I don’t feel like re-doing them.

Cornelius Lewis (Tennessee State OT)

Mammoth individual. He is 6’4 336. Transferred from Florida State, so he was probably a decent recruit.

He should be available and if he is he would be great!!

Yes ...

but we already picked a DT in this mock. Do you really think the Falcons will draft 2 DTs (2/4 first picks)?

I dont see why they wouldnt, if you think about it we dont really have a dangerous DT, Trey Lewis as the potential but really thats it, i dont think babanoux or moorehead is gonna cut it.

by MTB33 on Apr 9, 2009 2:47 PM EDT reply actions

While I can actually see them drafting two DTs

I’ve gotta ask if you’ve been watching the same Babineaux I have. I thought he got that extension because he’s a very solid interior lineman.

by Dave Choate on Apr 9, 2009 3:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Agreed...

We draft someone and that gives us a solid 3. Add another ho hum FA guy and theres your rotation.

well i guess will see, i still think we need atleast 2 more good guys to rotate…

by MTB33 on Apr 9, 2009 4:44 PM EDT up reply actions

That's fair ...

but 2 in the first 4 rounds? That’s is VERY unlikely.

well they might get a LB in the 1st, safety or corner on 2nd then maybe an OL on 3rd and DT on 4th but idk, i guess will find out on draft day

Dominique Johnson – DB JSU
Have to take based on the name alone, but can also do the CB/FS thing.
