A Very Falcoholic Discussion: Your Draft Day Plans
I recognize that the NFL Draft is not the Super Bowl, but many still like to lounge around the house and watch it.
The question, then, is what you do on draft day. Do you have a few friends over and mock picks for the duration of the draft, or do you turn it on the background and just catch the Falcons' picks? As an added bonus, who are you banking on for the 24th pick, just a couple of short days away from the actual draft?
Have fun, kiddos.

I head to a bar and catch the draft with some friends. Start Pregaming for the season. I’m excited about this year, and I have no idea who we will pick. My money is on T.D. trading down though.
If my mother put on a helmet and shoulder pads and a uniform that wasn't the same as the one I was wearing, I'd run over her if she was in my way. And I love my mother.

That's still the best way to watch it
My friends with an interest in the NFL are all pretty scattered, but I’ll be catching it with my brother for the first time and live blogging. Should be a good time.

I'll be at Callaway Gardens,
watching the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Yes. I know. Shame on me. Gotta take the fiancee’ out sometimes, people!

If shes the fiancee and doesnt
know that Draft day is sacred you need to put down some “guidlines”. What do you do on gameday? Take her to the Ballet? Besides, you will be paying for her your entire life AND a honeymoon… what else does a gal need?
I kid i kid. Have fun.

By the way, I have a t-shirt related question. Could you shoot me an e-mail, tloz?

Email shot.
And yes, I will be offering analysis of our picks post draft. How good it’ll be…who knows?
Oh, and did you want coverage of the preseason games? I probably can’t make the first but I could MAYBE-POSSIBLY****** make the second.
if I don’t have wedding planning stuff going on that weekend.

It'd be fantastic if you're willing, man
And I’ll be interested to see your analysis. I’ll be doing it live all day with the help of Pack Man (my brother) and my good friend Daniel Cox over at the Atlanta Falcons Examiner.
I'll be in Athens...
… trying to perfectly divide my attention between the draft and the Twilight Criterium bike race. I have a bad feeling I’ll only hear of the Falcons’ pick from my phone, but I plan on being in and out of downtown bars following the action.
As the day gets closer, I’m thinking Clay Matthews is going to be the pick. Brian Cushing if he’s still there.
Athens for me also
Its time for my group of friends yearly NFL Draft/Beer Pong Tourney/Twilight Pre Gaming Celebration. I might be popping in sometime in the evening, most likely to cry and whine about pretty much everything.

birthday/draft day
friends birthday, rented out the bar, free beer till it runs out….baa haa haa(suppose to be evil laugh, i don’t know evil laughs)
I'll be
Watching the first day’s action very closely. Sunday will probably be more in the background.
After bouncing back and forth, I think I’ve decided on Ziggy Hood as “my guy”. And if Peria Jerry hasn’t been drafted yet at #24, we could probably drop back a few spots and still get him. But really, I’d be happy with any of a couple handfuls of guys.
I'm still not a Ziggy Hood convert
But I won’t complain if the team picks him.

Still Sintim
Who I realize probably many aren’t sold on, either.
I just think 24 is a tough spot to pick, and I would be happy if they traded down and out of it for the chance to pick up more players in the second round.

I watch way too much sports on TV
No doubt about it but I never got how the telecast of the draft has gotten be so popular. Could someone explain the appeal of watching your favorite NFL executives sitting around banquet tables for 6 hours and getting up every now and again to go on stage to put a hat on some guy you never heard of?

I know a lot of people find it dull
But I really do think it’s fascinating. A team can advance its growth by several years with a quality draft or completely de-rail their entire franchise with a bad one. It’s kind of fun to watch it unfold before your eyes, even if it takes way too flaggin’ long for them to make picks.

ESPN is amazing
Bo may know football but they know hype. I can’t watch it. Maybe its my intense dislike of anything Chris Berman is associated with.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m interested in what we do even though I have no earthly idea who will be picked. I’ll probably follow it on si.com and here after I do my yard work.

I'm a bigger fan of the NFL Network
Less hype and slightly less hair gel.

Berman is a tornado, ruining everything in his path...
The draft, the Home Run Derby, etc. I mean, I HATE THAT MAN. If God showed up at my doorstep and told me, “Name one person and I’ll kill them right now,” my brain would fly right past all the evil dictators, murderers and scum of the world and I’d yell “CHRIS BERMAN!” in less than a second flat. And I’d never rethink it.
But I’ll still watch the draft, dammit.
I'll be at the library, studying my BLANK off, and praying to Vishu that we don't draft Pettigrew ...
Reporter: How will you address all of the dropped passes?
Mike Smith: I don’t think that we were as sharp as we have been catching the football. It’s something that is very fixable. It’s VERY fixable.

I guess I'll be here
if we are going to be live blogging on this site like we do for games, I guess you can count me in. I’ll go grab me a 12 pack and some sandwiches and camp out right here while I work on some college studying on the side. I need somewhere to complain. I am yet to be able to sit through a draft without criticizing every little move and complaining about how stupid GMs are – hehe, I was so wrong last year… but I still don’t think I’ve learned my lesson.
Do we know of a site where the draft is going to be streaming? (I am so reluctant to buy cable – everything is available online, you just gotta find it)

Should've said plan to be "here"
While I like philosophy as much as the next guy, I wasn’t trying to imply that some of you would cease existing on Saturday.

Brewing an all grain dunkel weizen
5 gallon batch, whilst enjoying some store bought beer and watching the draft.

ha
ill be doing the same thing. brewing about 7 gallons using a mix of dark and amber malts while watching the draft. nothing like some homemade beer. last time i was able to get the alcohol content up to 9%. im going to hate waiting a month for it to be ready tho….
if we draft Pettigrew in the first tho i might just drink it all immediately.

Do you do
all grain, extract, or partial mash? I’ve also decided to make 5 gallons of Edwort’s famous Apfelwein which is sooo easy, should be everyone’s first venture into brewing.
