The Falcoholic Mock Draft Spectacular: Second Round Nominations
In the first round of what can only be described as "some kind of mock draft," you guys voted for LB Brian Cushing. With a major need in the linebacking corps filled, where will this mock draft go next?
I got a very small number of submissions last time I asked, so I'm going to try again. Who would you like to see the Falcons pick up in the second round? Try to keep it as realistic as possible by limiting your choices to players who may actually be available. You have until Monday afternoon or so to get your choices in, so get cracking.
Thanks everyone.

2nd Round
I would only go Cushing in the first if he can play three downs, but let’s assume he can (I have seen some opinion that he can’t). With the second choice I would take one of the safetys, Moorem Chung or Delmas, If all are gone, a DT if the value is there, if the value isn’t there, a TE.

I said it before (but I'll say it again)
Al Woods out of LSU. He’s a big boy (6’4 and 315 lbs), but he has respectable speed (has run the 40 in the 5.1ish range), and he should be available.
If not Woods, Ron Brace (the other BC DT) would work. First of all, he’s HUGE (dude is pushing 340). He’s not a pass rusher, but he’ll be able to occupy multiple blockers in his rookie season, which would bode VERY well for our DEs.

i could see a guy like Brace alongside a pass rusher DT like Babineux
go hard or go home

Agreed ...
and like I said, he’s HUGE. More than capable of tying up 2 linemen.

I'm hoping DT Evander Hood falls...
…if not I pick up Patrick Chung or Ron Brace.

get serious
sure brian cushings a great linebacker but i dout he’ll be there at 24 and even if he is theres plenty of linebackers just like him in the 2nd-3rd round who just hurt themselves in the combine they can play and theres not a stop watch or rep number that can prove that first round that uconn db second we handle the linebacker postion 3rd another db 4th a lineman o or d it really doesnt matter and its td from there

It may be unrealistic
But it’s what people picked by an overwhelming number of votes. That’s why I’m looking for who you think we should pick next.

On that note
Scout.com has us taking Darius Butler out of UConn.
I still don’t think CB is our biggest need, so I probably reverse the first and second round order you have. That’s probably because I think we’ll realistically be able to get Clint Sintim in the first, who I like a lot.

I agree!
I like Sintim as well! Just the thought of having Sintim play alongside Lofton for years to come is got me kinda Yancy. CB is a need, just not a pressing one, Safety will be addressed before a corner.

SS
I like William Moore in this pick. Providing we draft a LB in the first. at least this covers two of our needs. Either way you slice and dice it, we need a Safety I’m guessing it will be Moore.

He might be there
I know his stock has dropped after the combine. I think he’ll get selected somewhere between picks 47-60.

LB/SS if we enter the draft today
I want us to take the best available LB as our first choice, and the best available SS as our second choice, then most picks after that D-line. that way we take care of filling our positions that FA took, and still are focusing on upgrading the defense to a top 10 in the NFL,
guys, imagine hearing that the falcons have a top ten defense. O that sounds sweet!!!

Chris Baker
Monster out of Hampton….How does a 326-pound tackle run a 5.02 and notch a 35.5-inch vertical sound?? As a comparison, BJ Raji is 337lbs, runs a 5.13 with a 32.5 inch vertical…Value at the end of the 2nd round is key…

Monster DT
Depth at large plug gappers will be around in the late 2nd and 3rd.. Chris Baker is who your referring to. I also like Sammie Lee Hill from Stillman, 329-pound ran 5.11. He’s a transfer from Penn St. Very good times for big guys!

We should
add some more depth at qb. Either trade up or hope that Josh Freeman falls

I hear Nate Davis will be available
Like, even after the draft.

Josh Freeman?
He’s predicted to a first round choice. There is no way on earth the Falcons will even consider him.

Didn't you hear?
In an interview Dimitroff said he would look at all prospects, including quarterbacks. That’s why I said trade up.
