Defensive holes - Madden sample
I just wanted to share with you guys that i have updated my madden to include all the cuts and signings and our defense is BARE
However,
With a few signings (Cato June LOLB, Leigh Bodden/Chris McAllister CB, Morlon Greenwood ROLB, James Butler/Jermaine Phillips SS) it soon became one of the best defenses in the league.
My point is have some patience. Obviously i dont expect all these signings but we can get a good squad of players who dont cost the earth. Very much like New England.....

I love the Madden analysis!

Madden is not real life
If it were Jamaal Anderson would be the best DE in the league. I get at least 3 sacks a game with that guy. You are right though our defense looks short right now

That is so completely ridiculous...
…it just might work!
I’d be tickled to see Phillips in a Falcons uniform, but because TD promised J. Fudge the chance to compete for a starting job I think TD is focused on drafting a SS in the 1st rd.
I predict we’ll draft a starting OLB in the 2nd rd and we will also bring in at least 1 free agent OLB. June & Greenwood may be logical choices because coach Smith is at least somewhat familiar with their abilities from his AFC South days.
Bodden intrigues me at CB, but not McCallister. Too old.

Yeah I like those signings.
But the Falcons head office is in it for the long haul and unfortunatly these moves are unlikely to happen. Nice moves at that, however I doubt TD to bite and any of those players.

Just an update
i simmed the whole season and our Falcons with some of those signings went 13-3! haha
McAllister is only 31 and dont forget hes better than what we have already, not to mention his mentoring skills.

I said this to one of my friends at the game once and he had no idea of what I meant. Trips right, go deep until they stop you… LOL.

Madden isn't a good prediction too IMO
Remember when the Falcons were rated a 69 overall when 09 first came out and they were predicted to be the worst team in the league (even worse than the lions – I actually won a $100 bet the Falcons would win more games than the Lions… hehe, funny how that worked)
Madden is all fine and dandy and definitely a great game for getting your football fix year round – but I don’t take to heart the game’s prediction strategies any more than I care what the floating heads have to say before every game.

i wasnt saying its a predictor
i just said it highlights our current situation but how easily it can be solved with a few well thought out additions.

I do like
the point you were trying to make. I just think the Falcons are going to have plenty of surprises up their sleeves this year, just as they did last year.
I really am fond of TD’s strategy to build players when they are young rather than paying for players that “used to be” while they were with another team and either way, I think it is just as much of a gamble so why pay more money for the same risk?
Who else here thinks that Haynesworth is going to be disappointing to the Redskins based on their expectations for him (by expectations, I mean that paycheck)?

Madden
This is the same game that had to adjust the team overall rating from a 67 to an 86 with the same players. Yea, Im not going to take a lot of stock in that, but I think you are correct that we should be patient. TD approach may not look good in the short term, but may pay off hansomly in the long term.
