Atlanta Journal-Constitution Reports L.J. Smith Not Signing With Falcons
D. Orlando Ledbetter reports that L.J. Smith has balked at joining the Falcons and the team has in turn decided that he'd be a poor fit for their blocking heavy tight end scheme.
You may now rejoice.

It doesnt seem that official that he isnt!?
im so confused, that blog doesnt look that confirmative either way!?
go hard or go home
He wrote it to say what's taking so long
And updated it with that news.
I’m going to trust DOB on this one, though this entire saga has made everyone reporting on it look foolish time and time again.
Haha! happy times!
You know things are bad when LJ has to decide on Detroit and Atlanta, and your sitting back saying…Please, not Atlanta,Please, not Atlanta. We don’t have cheese steaks here! and we like to run. That’s how bad I don’t want this guy. I’m really tired of hearing “Potential” when he’s going into his 7th season. That’s ridiculous! Let me be the first to give you a boot in the ass out of Atlanta! See you LJ.

I'll wait until he signs elsewhere
D. Led is the same guy who “broke” the story that Griffey was going to the Braves earlier this season.
If my mother put on a helmet and shoulder pads and a uniform that wasn't the same as the one I was wearing, I'd run over her if she was in my way. And I love my mother.

I'd like to think The Falcoholic played a small part...
It didn’t, of course, but I’d like to think it.

Ok.
That’s it.
No more analysis on Smith, no more postings, no more nothing. That’s the 4325642346134119809th time this has been down after being up. I’m ignoring anything with his name on it from now on.

this is a lot of drama over a so so TE
Not sure if I'm misreading this ...
but are you saying that this blog has had some effect on LJ’s decision?

Defense, Defense, Defense!
okay a long offseason with little free agency activity has truly made us all really yancy. When LJ Smith becomes a topic 16 different times, and gets lambasted in every single post, maybe it has had an effect?! I’d like to think it does anyway hehe.
Okay on with the draft..
defense! I still want Sintim, that hasn’t changed. So Mr. Dimitrioff, if you are reading this…please send us Sintim. 2nd round William Moore might be available and we need a safety. 3rd round , How about another CB Well Mike Mickens would be a good fit at 6’ 200 lbs. 4th round we could use another linebacker I suggest Scott Mckillop or Zach Follet. 5th round Sammie lee Hill for DT and Sherrod Martin…. Well I know your reading this, so keep this in mind..
Thank you,
The Falcoholic
and its many supporters of the Hotlanta Falcons!

no
I was just saying (in the wrong way) that this drama is screwing up our posts on the web page. we have all this talk about him being signed, then not, then again. etc….. its frustrating!!
Don't apologize ...
No worries homie.

you just were on top of it
reporting the news as it happened. LJ said “yes to ESPN” – TD said no to the AJC.
It makes me wonder – if LJ can spark this much fan skepticism… what is going to happen when “the one who we don’t speak of” is out for all the news to spread about?
doom
Atlanta shall explode when the dreaded one returns.

huh
I know I responded to this. I read somewhere that his only option now is Detroit. I feel for the guy.

I feel for Detroit
I don’t really see that they’ve done anything to really improve… they’ve replaced some players with players that have similar talent. If they do draft Stafford… I forsee him proving that the 2008 season, full of unexpected success from MR and Flacco was nothing short of a miracle and rookies are not meant to be that good during their freshman year in the NFL.
Anybody think they can beat Tampa Bay’s historical loss record? 26 losses is the goal to make history. Can they achieve this feat? I see it happening with the route they are taking.

This subject is pretty much dead
But I wanted to share this quote from a AFC North FA recap on FO:
L.J. Smith could be useful as a move tight end or flex player if he can find a way to catch Joe Flacco fastballs before they ricochet off his chest. He can be a minor asset if the Ravens keep Todd Heap. If Heap is released, Smith will be a disaster as a starter. Coordinator Cam Cameron liked to use unbalanced formations last year, with Heap or another tight end acting as the de facto right tackle. If Smith is playing right tackle, Flacco will taste turf a half-second after the snap.
At least TD finally came to his senses.
