The Thing That Scares Me The Most

We had a great 2008, and if things go well, we should have a great 2009, but ladies and gentlemen, I am downright terrified.  I'm not afraid of our lack of activity in the free agency.  I'm not afraid of our very tough schedule.  I'm not afraid of the prospects we'll get in the draft.  I'm not even afraid of our franchise's inability to put two winning seasons together.  I'm afraid of a different kind of curse: the madden one.  Its a fact.  No player has had a good year (or even a good career) after appearing on the cover, our own Michael Vick included.

Now, I know its unlikely that a Falcon will be on the cover again (Vick was on a cover 5 years ago), but with the Rookie of the Year and one of the league's leader rushers, I'm downright terrified.  Does anyone else share my irrational fear?

Ease thine worries.

Kerry Collins is (at least via the signage at Gamestop) the cover jock this year. Unless Ryan pulls some sort of miracle off and single-handedly wrestles a bear while throwing his 400th season TD pass, I don’t see him on the cover in 2009 or 2010.

And, for the uninitiated,

Ryan appeared as the Cover Athlete on the PS3 version of NCAA 09 in July. That was, apparently, a good omen.

yeh ive never understood

having players that have left college on the front cover of NCAA games, probably because they are getting the most attention, still you cant play as them!

go hard or go home

Yeah, completely backwards.

That’s what happens when a company holds a monopoly on football games: lack of clear thinking.

NCAA Regulations

An amateur athlete cannot be on the cover of the game because of their amateur status, it violates ncaa rules.

That schedule is brutal

but I think it will be a good measure as to where the Falcons stand as a team moving foward.

True

I think 9-7 wins the division. It may look like a slight step back record wise but we are in the Playoffs and the NFC will not have as many 10 win teams this year.

2009

I feel great about next season, but i think it’s because I feel like Mike S. TD, and blank are moving the team forward, they know what the hell there doing. so next year our record may not be what we would like, but this season will be a very informative one. we are gonna go up against the best teams in the NFL, I think we are ready. bring the rain!!!
