Keith Brooking Will Officially Hit The Market Friday
This will be a relatively short post, but I wanted to officially send Keith Brooking off.
Chances are good that Brooking is heading to another team. Someone is going to be looking for veteran leadership and a linebacker reasonably effective against the run, and that team is going to offer Brooking more than Comrade Dimitroff is willing to. It's a tough loss from a leadership and team history standpoint, but I can't help but think that the Falcons can approximate his on-the-field value at this point with a higher round rookie or a decent free agent signing.
You thoughts?

An era is over.
I’m still of the opinion Mr. Brooking should retire.

Brooking’s Agent: “Yes, we understand Grandma Dimitroff is probably better in coverage. But he’s a leader! He deserves 8 million!”
TD: “Um … I think we’re gonna move on.”

On a surprisingly not-as-mentioned note, so is Michael Boley and Chauncey Davis.

Now that is not good
I am of the opinion that the team needs to resign both of them. Boley is too good in pass coverage and Davis is proving himself to be more than capable. If Davis is holding out to be a starter, I wouldn’t want to see the team pay like one to be a backup, but moving Anderson to DT is still a viable option that I think the team should pursue, which would give Davis the chance to prove he can start.

Davis is ground we've covered
Boley fell off the earth this year and is clearly not in this team’s plan. I still think the guy has a ton of talent, but I think he’s the least likely of all our free agents to come back.

Finally
He has been in decline for years now. It is past time to cut the cord. The team will be better without him, which is what matters most.
